Delicias Café — Restaurant in Albuquerque

The DELICIAS CAFE is almost hidden in a small shopping center at San Mateo and Osuna NE, but the authentic Mexican food is consistently fantastic for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is colorful and feels like you are visiting Mexico. You can see the open kitchen supercharged with busy cooks and rushing servers. Everything we ordered was delivered quickly and steaming hot from the kitchen - really great service! The food is amazing! The Deshebrada Plate was filled with grilled shredded beef, tomatoes, onions and jalapenos, and it was delightful, especially topped with eggs. The Enchiladas Suizas came with 3 enchiladas (chicken, in this case), rice, refried beans, and a side salad - everything was super tasty. The Enchiladas Verdes (with beef, rice, beans and egg) was equally mouthwatering, as was the side of beef stew (Caldo de Res) which had just the right balance of spices. And the Combo Plate of 2 Beef Flautas, Ground Beef Taco and Ground Beef Gordita was absolutely mind-blowing! Even the breakfast pancakes are large and thick, absolutely yummy with butter and syrup. On 11/10/2015 I stopped at Delicias on my way home from work and had quesadillas with fries to go. The cost was nearly $12 with tax which was expensive. I have been there before and the prices were more reasonable. I agreed to pay that amount. My meal was not good. The chicken was of poor quality, there was zero seasoning and there was no guacamole or sour cream as stated in the menu, there was also few french fries. Frustrating. I was already home when I was dissatisfied and it wasn't worth it to follow up with my complaint. No longer visiting the restaurant seemed to be enough. I learned today that my credit card was charged nearly $17 for this meal. Delicias is a dishonest restaurant who defrauds customers. I have called to demand a refund and have disputed the amount with my credit card company and will discourage anyone from ever visiting. $5 is a low amount to steal but it is stealing and highly dishonest. The service was terrible. We had a young boy as our server and he seemed lost most of the time. The lady waitresses around us seemed much better. He took 4 other tables orders before ours. We had to finally ask another waitress to come over to us. He never gave us refills. When our food was ready he brought each plate 1 at a time with about 10/15min in between each time he came with one of our plates. The red chile was very sweet and tomatoey with no heat at all. Not for me. My husbands menudo was gross. It had tons of fat and you could tell it had not been cleaned out. They have us rock solid cold butter for my sons French toast. Syrup and butter came a long time after the food had came. He kept putting the drinks and hot plates right in front of my 2yr old and I kept asking him not to! When I went to pay, the cashier took other customers that were in line behind me. I told her that I was there first and she wouldn’t address me. The limes that came with the menudo were full of hair.
