Great number 2 on the burritos. Weird thing though.....we saw two things that caught our attention. The first was a family, five of them, grandma, grandpa, mom and dad with a teenage son at one table. The teenager pulled a chair up to the four top and at another table sat a homeless man. He was fairly clean for living on the streets, he looked to be a vet, a real vet not a pretend one and as I am a vet myself I can usually tell who is fake and who is real. He paid for a burrito and sat down and wolfed it down really fast. He looked to be around 30 at most. We saw the family pray, we also heard them take notice of the homeless man much to their chagrin, not once did this so called praying to God family think to offer this homeless man anything except judgement. My wife's back was to him so she could not see him but knew they were commenting. The manager I think noticed too and looked to be debating approaching the man. But we might be wrong about that. I hope we were. Anyway, we bought him two more breakfast burritos of his choice and gave him our 6 dinner rolls we had reserved for later. The manager then stood down and the grandma loudly asked her grandson if he wanted her extra breakfast burrito because she couldn't eat it. The teenager wanted to give it to the man, you could see it in his eyes, but he knew one look from his family that the thought was unacceptable. All day it bothered me, all I could think was how hypocritical it must of felt to that kid who had more compassion as a kid at that table than all those adults put together. That really stuck with me even now. We really did enjoy the food, Golden Pride never serves bad food, ever. They are always consistent with their high quality of food and the service was great too. The place could use a little fixing up and expanding. And most of all I hope we were reading the manager wrong and he understands that if you pay for your food and pay to eat there and act respectful than it should not matter what a hypocritical praying family thinks. After all, for all we all knew, it could of been the good Lord himself dining on that burrito. Either way, the food was excellent...and like I said, it always is at...
Read moreI hate to have to write a negative review about the Juan Tabo Golden Pride specifically. I don't know what's going on there now, but the last four times I've gone there to buy a breakfast burrito, they have been extremely disappointing. The burritos were bland, and the potatoes tasted off—they were different from what I'm used to. I don't know if they have a new cook or if they've changed the recipe, but it feels like they might be trying to save money by adding barely any cheese. Unfortunately, I had to throw away the last four burritos I bought.
I kept going back because, for so many years, they've had the best burritos, and I've enjoyed many of them. However, after these last few experiences, I won't be purchasing another breakfast burrito there.
Today, I decided to try the chicken for lunch. Typically, I get the barbecue chicken, but this time, I accidentally ordered regular fried chicken and requested all dark meat. What I received was white meat fried chicken, which was dry and unappetizing.
Sadly, after nearly a decade-long relationship with Golden Pride, I've decided it's time to part ways. It's a bitter divorce, and I'm genuinely saddened by it.
I hope they can get things back on track, even though I won't be returning. I wish there had been a way to communicate my concerns directly with them rather than in such a public forum, but here we are.
I sincerely hope they can improve for the sake of their...
Read moreFirst, I think it's primarily a drive through. Okay, here goes. I'm visiting my nephew and his gal and I say to him, "I'm craving a good bfast burrito. Where is the nearest burrito shop?". Driving into town, I remembered seeing a Filibertos, a 5 star Mex food shop in its own right. My nephew says "No Tio, go to Golden Pride. Better than Filibertos and not as expensive." So off I go, me and my gal, and we get to Golden Pride and our guy at the window was super nice, super friendly, and looked and acted like he loved his job. That's a plus! We had our order in a very short time, hot, fresh, sausage, egg, potato and cheese and whatever else it came with. Top shelf burrito!!! We also had the adobada special, 2 burritos and fries. The burritos were first class fare, delicious! And the fries were fricking memorable. I don't know how they make them but they're delicious. Sadly though, when I asked for an horchata, they don't do aguas frescas. A Dr Pepper had to fill the drink void and it was fine. All in all, I think Golden Pride will be my go-to for a damned good burrito and bfast fare. Not just good, not just great, but over the top delicious food that's a good value in today's quick food sector. These guys know how to do it, for sure! Thanks Golden...
