VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This place used to be great, but not anymore! You guys should make your motto “KAUFMAN'S, WHERE WE OFFER GOOD FOOD, BUT ONLY IF WE DECIDE TO MAKE IT! DON'T LIKE IT? TOO BAD.”
11/9/24 at 130pm: Every time I come to this place I spend A LOT of money for what I'm getting. Today was to be no different, as I prefer to support local and am not shy about spending extra, and tipping extra, as thanks for having a nice place to visit. I came in well before closing, but today you guys were out of bagels and the guy behind the counter was COMPLETELY UNAPOLOGETIC about this fact. I drove far out of my way to come here, spent several minutes vying for a parking space and then walked in 30 MINUTES before closing only to find that there were only THREE BAGELS, and in only 2 flavors, in the case and they were not appropriate for the kind of sandwich I intended to order. In addition to this, I was planning to feed a whole construction crew that came in on their day off to help us, but how was I to do this when I couldn't even order more than THREE BAGELS??? Now, I realize that I could have called in an order for fresh bagels, but the name of this place suggests that BAGELS are a pretty important staple of the menu, so I didn't think this would be necessary. Besides, I have never been able to reach anyone here by phone, so I didn't even try this time. I was willing to wait for bagels, if necessary, but when this guy finally acknowledged my presence he made it abundantly clear that he was NOT interested in tossing some more bagels in the oven just because I was there to buy food.
I used to work in a bagel shop, so I know how long it takes to bake a tray of bagels. I would have gladly waited, and even paid extra if necessary, but NOPE! Not at this place! This guy behind the counter says that they “always run out of bagels at this time of day” and that they “close in TEN minutes” even though the posted sign says they close in 30 minutes. I mention this and he says, “yeah, well it’s less than 30 minutes.” REALLY??? What was the point of extending your hours if this is how you guys you are going to treat the fact that you "always run out of bagels" well before closing? IF YOU CONSISTENTLY RUN OUT, THEN YOU NEED TO UP THE PAR, NOT PUNISH THE CUSTOMER. I was prepared to buy at least a dozen bagels and whatever spreads I could get, as well as meals (including drinks & snacks) for several people who I am feeding as thanks for their hard work doing construction for our business. Instead I spent ZERO MONEY! Great job, dude behind the counter, for making sure I no longer refer people to your bagel shop. I have sent a TON of business your way, ever since I found you guys a while back, but your policies (or maybe it is just that guy’s laziness and disdain for your customers), have ensured that I will NOT be recommending Kauffman's COFFEE & BAGELS to people who are looking for yummy bagels.
After this supremely disappointing experience today I went to FRONTIER RESTAURANT instead. The food at Frontier was delicious and the service was OUTSTANDING! Oh, and if I was insistent on getting bagels, I could have just gone to Einstein's Bagels which is only a few minutes away from this place...
WAS MY REVIEW TOO LONG; DIDN'T READ?
HERE'S A SHORT VERSION: DO BETTER, PEOPLE! YOUR FOOD IS GOOD, BUT IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO OVERCOME THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, ESPECIALLY ON TOP OF THE ALREADY SHORT HOURS & THE AWFUL PARKING SITUATION!
*EDIT: I appreciate the prompt reply , but it is very unlikely that I will return. It is unfortunate that the way I was treated the first several times I visited your store has now been replaced by this experience I had today... I am very disappointed to learn that I was dealing with the shop owner today. I was hoping to alert your attention to a rude employee whom you might...
Read moreThis was my first visit here and I really appreciated the quality and service. Despite it clearly being frequented by the gentrifying hipsters, I did notice some locals in there.
I thought the service was good and polite, and, I really liked my bagels and the sandwich.
Although it's far, I may have found my new favorite bagel place.
And yes, I do think I prefer the bagels here over the Sunday's Pop-up Bagels 🥯 Yaaaasss, I said it! Lol 🙂
*Update. Maybe this should be a 1. Not sure what has happened to this place, and it's clearly going through something. 7/2, 9:15 ish short red-headed girl wiping her nose with her hands, despite having gloves on and handling food. People can't get your name straight to save their lives. Got home, and had the wrong bagels bagged to top it off?! What the heck?! The guy verified the order a couple times. Called to talk to manager and some guy named Peter could honestly give two f's and said we could drive all the way back over to get the correct bagels. Yeah no. Not happening. I won't be back. Like ever. Get it together please.
**2nd Update: place the phone order today. The cashier sounded very distracted and frustrated. They claimed that they were super busy however, when I arrived, there was only two people in the restaurant and a bunch of people gathered in the back talking. When I finally got home, which is over 10 miles away, my order was completely wrong, even though the person repeated it back to me three times when I placed the order at 9:45. I'm so done with this train wreck. They are such a hot mess!! They refunded me, however, no more chances for this place. They need to get...
Read moreWe has intentions of dining in, but as soon as we walked in the energy in the store was off. Cashier/Barista was extremely rude to her co-worker. At one point becoming so annoyed she followed him to back of house to yell a question at him. Literally talking to him like he was dumb. Cashier asked me what type of bagel I wanted, and then when I told her she rudely told me "We don't have any." Only for her to look into the case and see that they did have the bagel I wanted. She again made a rude comment to an employee by saying, "I told you we were out of wax paper." When recieving our coffee the Cahsier spilled hot Espresso on herself and then said to me, "I just can't get your coffee right." And handed it to me. At that point we just gathered our food and left.
Bagel are fresh, and all food was hot and delicious. As a General Manager of a food establishment, myself. I cannot stand to witness employees treating other employees with disrespect. I also am unsure if this Cashier was the manager, which makes the situation worse. She made the entire environment bad. We did not want to stay any longer than we had to. I cannot in good conscious recommend a place where employees aren't treated with respect, and dignity. I had been wanting to try this bagel spot for a couple weeks after seeing them on Instagram....
