We've been coming to this VI semi regularly (2+/month) for nearly 10 years, and while we've had some mix ups, I thought they were all handled well and was generally satisfied with our visits. Until the last month or so One visit I ordered the ultimate skillet with wheat toast, what came out was the grand slam, and after a solid 5 minutes arguing with the waitress about the plate in front of me, the manager was apparently unavailable and a menu was brought out, pictures were compared, and she fixed the order. Only to bring it out with rye bread and argue with me that it was wheat. The entire event was handled very poorly and while unsatisfied I chalked it up to our first really bad visit and figured that meant we were in for another long stretch of great visits. A week later we went, and although not busy it took more than 15 minute for our server to even get our drink orders, and almost an hour before our food came out, with still no drinks. There was no attempt at customer service, and again we left feeling oddly betrayed but alright, it has to get better.
So today when I went I assumed the best, it was a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was packed, and the manager was on duty, all good signs. I ordered their new scrambler, no holindase, and wheat toast. When the waiter brought our our meal he apologized for the delay, that the cook had put holindase on it, and remade it. No big, but there was tons of holindase on the plate, with cheese poured on top, and no chicken. I pointed this out to the waiter, who informed me to take it up with management and next time we came in he'd try to get us free pie. Upon check out we brought it up, and she apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to "go talk to the cook" since we we're on our way to a movie and there were people behind us I declined, and for a third time in a row felt that their bottom line was better than making...
Read moreThe food was good and the staff was very polite when we spoke to them. Unfortunately, the service really dropped the ball with us this time. We were seated quickly but waited a full 20 minutes before finally going back to the front to let the host know that nobody had come to offer drinks or even introduce themselves as a server. At this point we just wanted to make sure we had a server who knew we were there. We had watched two tables seated after us already have their orders taken. After letting the host know, the server came out shortly after and apologized and got our order taken. After waiting a full 45 minutes from the time our order was taken we finally stood up and were looking for a server to ask for the check for the drinks as we could not wait any longer with several restless small children. We were told it would only be a few more minutes so we smiled and politely agreed to wait. We had been in the restaurant for 1 hour and 17 minutes before our food finally came out. We were missing several items that were originally ordered but never saw our server again until I had to go find her to ask for the check. We had decided to not even mention the missing items as we were just ready to leave. I'm really not a complainer, and I understand things get busy. However, I watched 3 nearby couples, who were seated after us, order their food, eat, and leave before our food even came to the table. So it seems the ball was only dropped with us. The food was good, but we were Very disappointed with the...
Read moreWe travel often and one thing that we have learned was that you should always rate the place on the food and not necessarily the wait staff. The waitress or waiter could have had a bad night, in fact they could simply be replaced by your next visit. With that said, I will still mention that we walked in with about 10 customers total in the place. The waitress wasn't in any hurry to take our order and never returned to refresh our drinks. After reading all of the other reviews I can say that there probably not much of a training program for the waitstaff. Now we should talk about the food. We sat in a booth that had a direct line of site to the microwave. I can say with complete confidence that 80% of the food was cooked in this microwave and I would be willing to bet that they could only serve breakfast if the microwave was broken. During our wait, I watched the person "cooking" the food open the microwave, stick his finger in the food to gauge the temperature and proceed to cook it for another 30 seconds, wiping his hand on his apron. Even with that great cooking technique, my food was warm with a few cold spots but the flavors were good. My wife's food was also just warm at best and she chose not to package her leftovers. She has only left her food behind once in our 5 years of being together. This should give you an indication of how she felt about her dinner choice. Although we always give a place 2 shots, I am thinking that we are going to ignore that rule this...
