The Wharf — Restaurant in Alexander City

Horrible experience. I was order #98 at the Alexander City location. I received my meal and it was OK. I ordered a regular fish dinner with smashed potatoes, garlic green beans, plus a fountain drink. I normally can not eat much in one setting, therefore I requested a to-go box. I packaged the remaining food in the to-go box. I needed to use the restroom before leaving, so I left my to-go box and drink on the table, since I felt that it would be unsanitary to take it to the restroom. I was probably in the restroom for no more than 2 minutes. When I returned, someone had cleaned the table, threw away my to go box and drink. I quickly asked the young man that serviced my table what happened to my food? He said that he didn't clean the table. He informed the manager, and she came out and apologized. She asked me what did I purchase? I told her that I purchased the regular fish meal with garlic green beans and smashed potatoes. She said that she would remake the meal for me. I patiently waited for the remake of my meal. She brought the meal out and handed it to me. Before leaving, I decided to open the box in the presence of the manager. She had purposely not given all of the items that was in my meal. She tried to explain to me that she did not include my garlic green beans. First of all, it was not my fault that my food was thrown away by the restaurant staff. Secondly, the manager was very unprofessional in her tactic to give me a remake of the meal with hopes that I would not open the box in her presence. When I discovered that she was trying to pull a fast move on me by not providing all of the items, I politely told her that she could keep it. I walked away watching her holding the box with the incomplete meal. I will NEVER purchase anything again from the Alexander City Wharf location. The food was great, atmosphere was good (once we were able to sit down), there were several servers available (all were polite and attentive), the patio is set up nicely and they have an awards program you can sign up for. The only thing I didn't like was the ordering process, it seemed really insufficient and inconvenient for the customers. Rather than being sat at a table and waiting for your server the customers stand in a line that is runs right through the center of the restaurant (when it is long and I'm sure it always is at dinner time) where servers and other patrons are constantly having to move around the people waiting to order. Once you finally order, get your drinks and pay you are given a number card and go sit down and wait for your order to be brought out. If you decide you want to order something else the server has to go get a tablet and card reader so you can order and pay at that moment again. I personally didn't like it and feel it is inconvenient for the customers that...

It's always a great vibe when I walk into the place. They always make me feel like a celebrity. I haven't been inside since last summer and boy has it changed. They now have screens for the menu, daily specials during the week, and a Sunday special. I ordered one of my favorite trios, which is, catfish, red beans and rice and hushpuppies. The fish was extra crispy and flaky like I asked, he even sprinkled some lemon pepper on it for me. IYKYK. The red beans and rice were rich and succulent. I always have to add hot sauce because I like mine on fire. The hush puppies were super fresh, perfectly crisped, and fluffy with a taste on the inside you'll never be ready for. No matter how many you've eaten. For me, being that I used to rock in the back, I would suggest you ask for a side of Tiger Sauce. Thank me later. The service was great.
