The former review was based on a different menu item I never really ordered before. Therefore I am increasing my ratings. The battered fish (which I normally order) is so much better than the other southern fried fish plate. And as for as the sides go, they are great.

The battered fish meal I ordered from Captain D’s was good. On a previous order I think I ordered the fish feast? Definitely not my favorite. I think the battered fish taste so much better.
Today, I ordered the Cajun Catfish Family Meal from Captain D's via Grubhub for delivery. To my dismay and utter disappointment, the meal I received was far from satisfactory and not worth the nearly $60 dollars I had paid for it. Although Captain D's is known for their pricey menu, I have never before had a bad experience with their food - until today.
The catfish in the meal was burnt and greasy, leaving an unpleasant taste in my mouth. Moreover, the fries that accompanied the meal were stale and unappetizing, further adding to my displeasure. As someone who had a high opinion of Captain D's, this experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing for me. I had hoped for a delicious meal, but what I received was dishearteningly poor in quality.
It has been a while since I had eaten food from Captain D's, and I cannot help but wonder if this is their new norm. If so, then it's unacceptable for a restaurant that charges such a high price to serve food that is anything but top-notch. As a customer, I deserve to be satisfied with the food that I pay for, and this experience was anything but that.
I hope that Captain D's management takes notice and makes the necessary changes to prevent similar occurrences in the future. I have always enjoyed dining at Captain D's, and I sincerely hope that the quality of their food improves. If not, I will have no choice but to spend my...
Read moreCaptain D's is a popular fish and chips type of restaurant, and I enjoy fish and chips, and seafood in general. Having said that the current menu at my location or should I say the location I use has been limited since the covid-19 pandemic hit. The shrimp on the menu, which I had tonight, was breaded as opposed to battered and it leaves a little something to be desired. I added two pieces of batter dipped fish which were excellent. The hush puppies are just very ordinary Yankee corn dodgers as opposed to the type of hush puppies we like here in Louisiana. The fries and slaw sides were pedestrian. Long John Silver's is the national competition and while certain reviewers Nationwide deride their quality, my experience is that it is superior in many ways to Captain D's. I have seen recently in the news that Arthur Treacher's fish and chips is going to make a comeback. If successful, they could very well trounce both Captain D's and Long John Silver's. Their quality of fish and other seafood was always superior. I certainly look forward to Arthur Treacher's return. I will certainly be only look out for their restaurants when I'm...
Read moreEating here was one of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time. First of all: this is a franchise. Which means that an individual bought into the Captain D's brand name. With that said, corporate Captain D's must NEVER come around and inspect or sample the food. I purchased 2 of the sampler platters that had fried chicken, shrimp and fish with fries, fried okra and hushpuppies. The hushpuppies were the only edible item on the plate. This is Louisiana, people! We fry EVERYTHING! This was an utter waste of food! It tasted like the oil they used was very old and the consistency of the fish was like nothing I have ever experienced. The building is old and unkempt and the equipment that I could see was in disrepair. The condiment dispenser wouldn't work till an employee showed me how to hold the top of the container in a way that would allow it to do so. I am in the foodservice equipment repair business and have seen this type of place before. I will never patronize this location again even if the food was free and would never recommend it to anyone! $37.00 worth of food went into the...
