We drive through Alexandria about once a year and always stop at De barge's Crawfish. This year we had the fried combo, 5 fish and 5 shrimp, plus 2 pepper jack boudin balls to share. This was way too much food since we didn't have a fridge (RV) for leftovers. The fish was excellent, the shrimp were good, but a little small, the French fries were good, the fried jalapenos were excellent, the boudin balls were good, but not as good as we remember them. We should have just got 1 boudin balls because they were huge. As much as we hate to do it, he had to throw away some french fries and a few fried jalapenos. We ate at the Alexandria Parks and Recreation Park, which was beautiful. The azaleas were in bloom, the trees were blooming out, lots of Robins and squirrels. It was just a gorgeous day, temperature about 75 degrees and sunny. Everything was good.
Note from 2022: We had their special Cajun Blast #1, which had 2 pounds of boiled Crawfish, 18 count boiled shrimp, 2 potato, 2 corn cooked spicy. We also ordered a Boudin Ball and a Pepper Jack Boudin Ball. We were glad we asked for spicy because it was perfectly spiced. The Boudin Balls were perfectly spiced, although the pepper jack ball was just a little better, even though I'm not a cheese fan. We were just driving through and when we arrived, we realized we had been here before based on reviews. Although we don't remember it being this good, it was EXCELLENT today. There's a reason we found it a couple of years ago. Definitely, worth the stop. This is only a drive thru, not a sit...
Read moreSo my first time eating at this establishment. I ordered the $74 combo. The 4 lb. Crawfish, the 30 or so shrimp, four potatoes two corns and I also ordered three fried boudin links and 2x eggs. Total was 98. Something. Let's begin so the eggs are overpriced. A dollar, a egg and some butter sauce. No lie. It was good. As far as the corn and potatoes... It was corn and potatoes. The shrimp was great. Nice taste not overcooked not undercooked and with that house sauce the house sauce is phenomenal. Kudos on that. It was good. Whatever I dipped it in the boudin, the crawfish, the shrimp, the freaking egg. The house sauce is great. Keep that! NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS!!! Not going to lie. I thought because of the up hype this place has been receiving that it was going to be like top notch better than the people down the street that I'm not going to mention but more than half of my crawfish was just overly cooked to mush. A lot of them didn't even have tails before I even started eating it. Some of the tails were mushed at the bottom of the bag. So I feel like if you're going to give somebody 4 lb of something you need to actually make sure that your crawfish actually have tails and people are actually getting with their paid for simple. Over all for the crawfish...keep working at it. Edit: also the boudin links that are fried keep doing that. That was awesome. Something new Something innovative...
Read moreI frequently pick up food from them for myself and my family but on this day when I ordered my shrimp platter I opened my plate to see that they forgot my fried jalapeno peppers and I figured it was a simple mistake. I wasn't far so I went back inside and told the young lady at the counter and she told me "oh yeah we're out" I then asked could you not have told me this at the window when I first ordered and offered me a substitute? She then just shrug her shoulders and I asked. Could I have something in place of it? She then said let me go see while reaching for my plate and returned and didn't say anything about it just went on to the next customer. After she finished that transaction, she then proceeded to help the following customer and I had to politely butt in and ask are they cooking it? How long will the wait be, I mean she didn't tell me anything until after I asked and told me they're cooking it. I like the shrimp and my wife says the crawfish are a hit and miss but I hope someone teaches their employees some better customer service skills because they are...
