Depot Smokehouse and Tavern — Restaurant in Alexandria

We went to the Depot a week ago to host a team building event / social hour for our employees and from beginning to end the Depot impressed us! Our server Rachel was a rock star. The kitchen staff was taking care of a multitude of people and the house was packed from top to bottom, end to end. Service was top notch and the food came to our table, hot and timely! And Rachel waited in each and every person like they were the only ones in the room and with a smile that was genuine! And there were literally at least a hundred or more!

So my family and I just HAD to go back and try it for dinner! Tonight we were able to be seated on the patio because finally the weather cooperated. Our server Emma was the sweetest and so attentive. (As were the others as I watched them attend to their customers). Once again, packed house. Everyone had smiles on their faces and our food - well let’s just say not only do they shock you in presentation, but quality! Definitely not all deep fried, pre-cooked, warmed over bar food. Fresh, generous, flavorful and obviously made to order amazing meals. (Sorry I didn’t get pictures of everything).

We LOVE and believe in supporting our local businesses. They are what makes our communities thrive. Depot Staff……keep up the good work and THANK YOU SO MUCH for making both of my experiences - professionally AND personally - such a remarkable experience!

Good food - Nice outdoor area. BUT the Bathroom stalls are WAY WAY to small. Your knees hit the door when you sit down & there's no reason for it. The bathroom is definitely large enough to have bigger stalls. Also we walked into outdoor area & sat down. The waitress walked by us twice not saying a word. My husband had to go inside & get a waitress & order something to drink. She came out with our drinks & was in a way rude by saying "You have to go inside first or we don't know you're out here." First of all ARE YOU BLIND ! Walked by us twice & saw we had nothing at our table. Secondly, there were no signs anywhere telling us that nor was there a sign that said exit only. So how were we supposed to know. So we tell her that & she snottily says "There is an exit only sign on the other side of the gate." DUH! THE GATE WAS WIDE OPEN LADY !!! We don't have xray vision. I thought it was ridiculous the way she spoke to us. We will probably revisit again because the food spoke for itself and because the next young lady that ended up waiting on us was very nice & cordial & not a snot. However if this ever happens again we won't spend our money there. So in closing KEEP THE GATE SHUT SO WE CAN SEE THE EXIT ONLY SIGN OR HAVE A SERVER THAT WORKS THE PATIO LIKE EVERY...

Went here on a Sunday afternoon when there was 1 other table and our table of 5. The server was quick to get us started with drinks but then was slow to get to us to order food. After we ordered the food, it took a very long time to get to us. On top of that, when we did get our food and our server asked “if we need anything else.” He didn’t bring us the water we requested or the ranches we also asked for. We decided to start eating after waiting about 5 mins and the server finally came over with the ranches but everyone had finished their meals already and we also never got water refills. Very sad because this place has potential and great menu options but the service has been terrible the last 2 times we went. Last time being even worse with getting our orders wrong then and forgot about all in the same trip.

Can’t say I would say I would recommend this place, definitely not if you are in a time crunch because I’m not sure you’ll get your food in a timely manner. (Or what you ordered.)

It seems like they need more servers. Or just more than one for the bar side. You’d think they would’ve figured it out by now...
