Downtown Diner — Restaurant in Alexandria

We are very glad we found ourselves at the Downtown Diner even though it was not our first choice. The breakfast choices gave us good options The attentive service from the (small) staff was remarkable given it was a packed-to-the -rafters dining space. But best of all, not only we're the scrambled eggs delicious, but the hashbrowns were better than those we've had at 5 star expensive restaurants!!!! We will be making the 75 minute road trip back here for breakfast again! Thanks to the family members who provide this...

Don't let the size of this place fool you, it isn't the size of the building that makes the restaurant, it is the people who operate it that makes the restaurant.

If you are looking for a truly authentic mom & pop style homestyle cooking restaurant, this is the place for you.

Everything from the pulled barbecue chicken sandwiches to the spaghetti to the hot beef sandwich to the many other menu items especially the breakfast menu items are amazingly awesome and the service makes you feel like you are...

I have driven truck over the road for 15 years, I have eaten in 100's of diners and truck stops coast to coast. For what I ordered (Western with HB &Rye), there is no way it could have been done any better to my satisfaction. Coffee and drinks never went empty (good service). It may not be the most clean and spotless place, but it is one of those "whole in the wall diners" that is very unpretentious, and a great place for the locals, and the common man....
