9/20/25: Stopped in as a recommendation from someone in NY. Didn't know they had a location in Alexandria until our conversation. Let's start with the food. Pricey, but excellent. The coffees were perfect. Ordered a large cold pumpkin spice chai, freaking incredible. Ordered an Americano. Didn't except anything crazy however they didn't have that bite to it that most coffees do. Or maybe that's just Starbucks. Anyway sugar, lids and honey are on a counter but half and half/milk etc is not. Ordered the "Manhasset" egg sandwich, very good. Came with a nice little salad in the place. It was appx $20.00 for the sandwich. Coffees were around $6.95 each. I'm now up to $30.00 for a sandwich and two coffees. Oh, they have these gooey moist puffy cookies. If you buy nothing else, get the cookie ($7.00) and a coffee. So now I'm up to $40.00 not including tip. Atmosphere: Modern and metropolitan, which I would expect from a location derived from NY. I adored the black and white tile. This is the same tile in my family's upstairs bathroom, built in 1910 Queens. So it felt like a little sense of home. Because of work, I live in Alexandria. There are several comfy leather chairs, tables and chairs. The text on the wall was nice to read and shows you where their head is at. There is also outside seating. At first I thought the people on the walls were hand painted then realized it's custom wallpaper. Really nice touch, down to the pigeon on the trash can (NYC's state bird) and the Jewish couple which is symbolic of Williamsburg, people in the park, and families. The cafe is next to an office building? Outside there is a fountain, trees and greenery. Location: within walking distance of the Amtrak station and downtown Alexandria/King Street. Street parking is difficult but there are two public parking garages very close. I found a spot on the street so couldn't tell you the cost of garage parking. Service: The staff could be a more welcoming instead of not smiling at all. Literally, no smile or welcome. Is that policy? They bring your dish to you, instead of having to pick it up from the counter. Overall a nice location, never knew it was here because it's not on King Street and it's off the beaten path of downtown Alexandria. It was very comfortable here. Didn't feel rushed, could easily sit here and...
Read moreI have been coming here for 2 years now. I usually see my regular favorite employee on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with some random visits throughout the week. She knows my order pretty darn well and makes it exactly how I like, which is really sweet! Sometimes I’ll come in and she’ll check in the back to see if there are any blueberry muffins in the back if they are out. Though the atmosphere and her service is phenomenal, I noticed when I came in today (Tuesday, March 5th) there was a gentleman working instead. I tried to buy a 24 oz chai latte (which it says on the board that it is $6.50) and I was charged $8.34. I asked him if that was correct, he told me to look at the board. I told him that that wasn’t the price shown and he told me I was probably looking at the wrong size and I informed him I was not— as it’s clear when looking at the board. He did not say anything else and just proceeded to wait for my payment. Then, when I got my chai latte, it tasted just like milk with a little bit of cinnamon. I was really let down. Though I have loved coming here, it seems as though the price is not worth the product. There are other cafes nearby that are not as expensive and are local (not corporate). Usually, just for a muffin and a latte, I spend about $20 (including taxes...
Read moreRE: I love this place and that’s why I’m rewriting this review. The prices here are atrocious. You’ll pay 6-7 for a coffee / latte without FLAVOR or add ons. You’re taking away money to tip the nice baristas at your restaurant because your patrons are spending so much money.
Breakfast or lunch is 20 dollars. This quite frankly feels like they’re taking advantage of being in an office building. No one around you is charging this much. I wanted to get a sandwich and it costed 20 dollars! That’s outrageous. I’m not saying lowball yourself, but you have to compromise with your customer base. This is obnoxious to say the least. I will not be back Original :
Great coffee, customer service but most of all very spacious. Room for everyone to sit, which is rare for coffee shops in Alexandria. Actual genuine coffee, but whoever is their baker deserves an award, some of the largest and freshest muffins, croissants and other pastries I’ve came across in old town. Great customer service, and I was even given a punch card for visits. Indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff. I do think the items are a little pricey, but worth the quality. High quality Matcha and...
