There are few places when you walk in for the first time and say I’m home. This is one of those places.

Was in DC for a concert, but staying in Alexandria. Looked up speakeasy or a quite bar. I’m too old for the loud music that doesn’t allow you to talk.

Found this spot about 15 min from the Airbnb, we walked right by it. Found the sushi place on the first floor, then followed another group and they walked into the side door that looks residential, and then you see the small sign that says, Kings Ransom.

Went up the stairs I found a tiny place. It was packed, but we made our way to the bar and waited until another couple left and we took their place.

Met Conner and Nick our mixologists. Yeah they earn that moniker, the cocktails that they make are hand crafted and delicious. It takes time to make, I wished the younger crowd that was there would apréciate and have some patience.

One young girl to my left was upset her six drinks were taking too long, they were a variation on a whiskey sour using egg whites.

I bet that if you gave her some sour mix from a bottle should wouldn’t know the difference.

Again the drinks are spectacular, take the time to interact and learn from these guys the thought they put into the drinks.

After a while the crowd died down and we had a great conversation with Conner, we were invited to a private event the following day, there was a cost but it was well worth it.

This place is a definite if I am ever in DC area. Conner and Nick are masters at their craft and it’s like a show to...

Stumbled upon this cute like bar while exploring Alexandria and my partner and I were completely blown away. From the music to the relaxing ambiance — this bar is really a one stop shop to network, decompress after work, meet an old friend, or new ones. Shannon, one of the bar tenders, stood out the most. She worked not only the bar but the tables too. You could tell there were crowd regulars who came just for her. Not only was she welcoming but she made you feel at home. Don’t know what you want to drink — no worries she had recommendations for you. Wanting to feel adventurous — no worries she’s willing to make a random cocktail. Convinced you don’t like gin — no worries she has just the right cocktail up her sleeve and believe me she changed my mind. All this to say we decided this would be a new regular spot when we move back...

I was absolutely blown away by this place! Very mysterious looking with hand crafted drinks made to perfection x100! I had the best, smoothest and most beautiful Old Fashioned made by Tyanna! Stamped ice cube and all! I'm telling you, this was a perfect 10! We also tried the Margarita, dirty martini and a Whiskey Sour....all heavenly and made to perfection. It took a tad longer to get your drinks but that happens when they're made the way this place makes them! The vintage bottles they use are such a nice touch! This place was recommended by my daughter, who lives in Alexandria, while we were visiting and it definitely lived up to the hype!! I would have loved to stay there all night! I probably wouldn't have made it down their stairs but hey, it would be worth it! Thanks for being the best part of...

The downstairs of this bar is a sushi restaurant. You have to enter the sushi restaurant and go up the stairs to reach the bar. It's literally like finding a hidden gem. The owner Jonathan was behind the bar and provided us with some of his best cocktails. The cocktail menu consists of traditional drinks with Jonathan's own touch, which is anything but traditional. I especially liked my vodka old-fashioned. There's very few places where you actually have to sip your cocktails because you get what you pay for--- this is one of them. You could easily spend a few hours here in air conditioning away from the crowded streets below. An added bonus is you can order off the downstairs sushi menu right from the bar.
