Northside 10 — Restaurant in Alexandria

Update: I visited about a year ago because one of my closest friends wanted to go there for her birthday and I would not not go because of this. The service was better and so was the food. They recognized me pretty quickly and began pointing at me and laughing and was even taking pictures…but ok, I get it. I did say in my previous review I would never return, so I guess they got me. But I was not going to miss my good friends birthday celebration because of them.

This review is very long…sorry!

Just a note…I emailed the manager before Christmas because I explained I wanted to give them a chance to respond, I also apologized that I never posted a positive review for Northside 10 and that was my negligence, but this is why I gave them 3 stars. But at this point I’m done.

Im starting this off by saying that I have been going to Northside for years (5+) since I started working at the elementary school down the street. When I started going here I absolutely loved it, great food and service weather sitting at the bar, chatting with regulars or sitting in the dining area. Every bartender and server I met was great and chatted with the manager several times. With the pandemic obviously everything changed & life stopped so…At the beginning of this school year (8/2022), I started to go back & was happy to feel like life was getting back to normal. The last 2 times was just absolutely terrible service & the food was not great.

On the first visit, 10/28 at approx 3:30pm, we sat at a high top in the bar area & the bartender came over pretty gruffly to take the drink orders…. throughout the beginning order process, he was very clearly annoyed and took a few of our orders then walked away without taking my order. So after several of my friends were receiving their drinks, I was still trying to place mine. One of the other servers saw my frustration and came over to take my order. Everyone received their orders at different times, but whatever, just trying to relax after a long school day, but left not satisfied with the service.

We then went back on 12/7 and were expecting a few other people to join us, and we wanted 2 high top tables to push together. We sat at one high top table & there was another one next to us but there was money, receipts & a cell phone on it, figured it was a servers so didn’t move the table, just waited & waited. Finally someone came out & we told them that we would need the center table because we would have more people joining. The server looked bothered & told us whatever we wanted to do was fine, she then removed the items off the table annoyingly and walked away, she did not clean it or move it. So we ended up moving the table over and waited and waited and waited…by then, 2 of the other people we were expecting joined us and we still did not place our order because the server did not return (about 15 minutes), to be fair, it became very busy, very fast, but we were one of the first customers there since it was about 3:30. I was truly annoyed but we placed our orders anyway. Once received, the food was not good. We ordered the happy hour nachos, the chips were soggy, the chicken was not seasoned (as usual) and it was not fresh. My co-worker ordered wings and she said they were hard & not flavorful, she also got sick that night. BTW, these were my favorite wings in Alexandria City.

At both of these visits the servers did not smile and just seemed annoyed, to serve us. I don’t know what happened, it was my absolute favorite place and recommended it to everyone, who, at one time loved it too. I feel like the treatment was personal, and am not the only one who feels this way, and I don’t know why. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, even though they seem to be busy all of the time, and I’m sure it won’t make a difference to them, I am super disappointed but we all feel that people should not be treated this way.

I have not been to Southside 815 (their sister restaurant) in a very long time, and have not decided if I will do so at this point. Unless I’m craving...

Wow! Northside 10 is a 10! Great food, SUPER service, an excellent dining area, and parking too! They also have a bar area with lots of TVs that would be great for watching the game before or after getting a bite to eat.

Our server, Rachel, was OUTSTANDING!! When asked for recommendations (she also is a great listener) she was ready to give us the benefit of her knowledge and experience and she was spot on.

Great beverage - we had beer and wine - selection, including some excellent local craft beers.

For appetizers we had the Mac and Cheese (Wonderful), risotto fritters (excellent), and fried brussel sprouts (not my thing, but everyone else said they were great). I was a little overwhelmed by the appetizers and could have gone home happy and content at that point, but there was more to come.

I had a fish and chips special and the fish was SPECIAL! Fresh and cooked right it melted in my mouth and made me happy! The fries were fried, nothing special but I was past caring. Six more meals were delivered and devoured with lots of happy, happy people. Lots of food too!

But then Rachel said we had to try dessert. She gave us choices, but we declined until we acquiesced. We only got one dessert, and seven spoons.

For dessert we had the Northside Peach Pound Cake and it was gooooood! I was full, but it was worth it. The peach is there but it doesn’t overwhelm. The ice cream and pound cake with the peach are smooth, simple, and worth another trip even without anything else.

Rachel was GREAT all evening. She kept drinks filled /replenished, and contributed significantly to a wonderful meal.

GO to NORTHSIDE 10, have a drink, meal, dessert. Treat yourself and...

Had a really disappointing visit to Northside recently. We arrived around 5:30pm on a weeknight. It wasn't too busy and we were promptly seated. Server came over and quickly took our food and drink order. We ordered nachos as an appetizer and it was excellent. So far, really good. However, the nachos came out only a few minutes before our main course, but not too big a deal. For my main, I ordered one of the daily specials without one of the toppings. When it arrived it had everything on it. It took forever for the waiter to return to check on us and I actually had to flag down one of the other staff to have my order fixed. It then took twice as long to receive my food back. After dinner, we decided to order dessert. It took over 30 minutes for the dessert to come out. The waiter said he "wasn't happy with the sauce" and had them "remake it." Also, during this entire time, at this point easily 1 1/2 hours, no one had refilled our water from when we first arrived. Finally, after they brought the check, no one came to collect it. We ended up switching to cash and leaving. It was after 7:30pm. It appeared there might have only been one waiter for the entire outside area, but I'm not sure. Overall, the atmosphere is really cool, the staff were quick to seat us/take our order, and the initial food came out really quickly. But they fell really short...
