Selam Cafe — Restaurant in Alexandria

We drove for 45 minutes to get to this restaurant and arrived at 2:30pm and as soon as we walked in the young lady behind the counter told us they were closing in 15 minutes and that we could only order to go. We ordered to go and waited for the food less than 10 minutes, meaning if the restaurant would have been more professional, we could have order and eaten at the restaurant and be out before or by 3pm. Here’s where I have a problem: their door says they close at 4:30pm, google says they close at 3pm and they now say they close at 2:45pm.

I regret placing the order at all since I felt not welcomed as a customer willing to spend my money at this small business; they even have a sticker on their windows promoting to “shop small”… guess what, not me! Not with this unprofessional treatment.

Nice little restaurant but the service is very bad. The waitress from yesterday was the worst we've ever seen. Usually, Ethiopian restaurants have good service but this one was so bad. We pre-ordered on the phone, when we got there, she put the food down on the table and did not ask us if we need any drinks. We had to call her a few times to get drinks and other things. When we ask for stuff she doesn't even respond, just rolls her eyes and goes inside the kitchen. She did not check on us or bring the check, we had to walk over to her. The restaurant was empty at 12:30 pm, next door is Aurora Cafe and it was full. Train your waiter or get a new waiter to have more people come. Selam Cafe is such a wonderful spot! The service is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming , you feel like part of the family the moment you step inside.
