this is a good place to go while the 30% discount is still valid. went on a Sat. lunch and it was not crowded at all. Connectivity is sporadic, may be something nearby jams the signal across multiple providers so you know. its nice to have physical menus to read. some reason most cut rolls have "spicy" tuna or crab or something in it. handful of exceptions. the cream-cheese items do include plenty of cheese. my party considered them a bit overwhelming and coating other ingredients and told me i should just go get a bagel next time instead. point taken. best bang for the buck is the family roll combo. 4 rolls for a set price at about 10% less then ordering individual cut rolls. if you pick the more expensive rolls for the combo then your dollar go even further. the mix sushi sashimi was very good. the stuff was fresh and the size is within the normal expectation. the scallop was good. had better at some place in little tokyo. but this one is not bad. i need ship loads of food so ended up ordering another bento meal. the steak was over-cooked and tendons abound. it was thin so it was boarderline ok. maybe try chicken if you must. there is no miso attached to anything so if you want soup, you'd have to order it separately. the tampura shrimp was decent. the batter could be lighter and fluffier. maybe the shrimp was a bit too cold causing the cooking time needed to be longer and subsequently it came out not as light and crunchy. this issue applies across all the rest of the crunchy rolls- crab/shrimp. so maybe it's systemic. you could order take out but heard people complained the wait is no less then sit down and eat. the tip scale is the new standard 18% and up. the machine to collect wil be dispensed at the table so have a number in your head when you call the waiter to close out the bill. i don't know if they charge more for...
Read moreMikomi Japanese Restaurant in Alhambra has seamlessly filled the shoes of its predecessor, EMC, offering a refreshing take on Japanese cuisine. During a recent lunch visit, we indulged in their lunch bento box, which showcased their mastery of flavors, particularly evident in the beef and chicken teriyaki dishes. The sweet teriyaki glaze perfectly complemented the tender meat, leaving a lasting impression. Beyond lunch, Mikomi's happy hour menu steals the spotlight, with discounted sushi and other favorites enticing diners to return time and again.
In addition to their delectable offerings, Mikomi shines in the realm of service. The staff's attentiveness and professionalism enhance the dining experience, making guests feel welcomed and valued. However, navigating the parking situation can pose a challenge, as the restaurant shares the shopping mall with numerous popular eateries and stores like Sprouts. Despite this minor inconvenience, Mikomi Japanese Restaurant stands out as a must-visit destination in Alhambra, offering exceptional cuisine and top-notch service that keep patrons coming...
Read moreThis restaurant has a very modern vibes, and there is bar inside the restaurant.
We came here during happy hour. We were being seated right away. We ordered yellowtail sashimi, spider roll, and golden tiger roll. The yellowtail sashimi was very juicy and fresh. The spider roll was perfectly made as the soft shell crab is crispy and well season. The golden tiger is a disappointment in this meal. There is nothing special about it. Also, the cream cheese and spicy mayo does not seem to match.
They use a robot to deliver food. That's a smart way of using new technology.
Parking could be busy, as this restaurant is in the same plaza with Sprouts.
Another negative side was that I saw a guy wear chef uniform sitting at the very first table at the entrance eating Jolibee. I suggested that should happen maybe more of a hidden table in the back. As this did not look good...
