We arrived right in the middle of the Saturday night dinner rush. 35 min seating wait, and were sat in 25 min. After being seated, we found out from our server the POS system crashed and server’s were sending handwritten tickets to the kitchen. Through all this our server Avery never showed any sign of stress and never faltered on taking excellent care of us. I have personally experienced a computer system crashing at a restaurant I worked at. It’s a nightmare when it happens. This visit was a good test of how a well trained staff can make a nightmare look like nothing even happened when it happens, especially on a busy Saturday night at 7:30. This experience will certainly see us come back to this Outback Steakhouse!
Update: We came back and had an equally impressive experience as before. Our server Nick was spot on with first class service. Our meals were cooked to perfection. The quality of the training and preparation of the food here is very prevalent. Thank you!
Update: We had another great dinner here. Kelsey our server was fantastic. Friendly and professional. Kelsey hit high marks on all levels of service! Every time we visit , we’ve had a different server and all were spectacular. This is the best Outback Steakhouse we’ve been to in decades!
Update: We came back and had another wonderful experience. This time Julia took first class care of us. We drive 80 miles round trip to come here. The last Four servers we’ve had have kept us coming back. We can’t wait until next time…. We can’t stop coming back!
This visit Spencer elevated our experience with first class service. In comparison, I recently ate at an Outback Steakhouse in Northern Virginia that couldn’t come close to The Altoona Outback in all points of service. Honestly, I’ve eaten at Outback Steakhouse’s all over the place and kept being disappointed to some degree. Eventually we stopped going to Outback for years. When we moved to Pennsylvania, on a whim we decided to visit The Altoona Outback. That’s our story. Spencer tonight just confirmed every visit here makes us more impressed. Thank you!
UPDATE: Another great visit to what’s becoming one of our favorite restaurants in town. Our server Lindy provided us with five star service plus. We’re so impressed with the quality of the servers here. Thank you Lindy for making our visit...
Read moreThis restaurant used to be pretty good but not anymore. I can honestly say I don't think I'll be back for a good while after tonight's experience. We called ahead and got seated at a decent pace, that was the fastest/best part. The waiter couldn't keep up with any requests. We asked for a little plate of mashed potatoes to come out with that appetizers so our 1 year old could eat something with us. That never happened... Drinks were slow. The food came out overcooked. Seems the quality was different. Steak felt like Walmart grade for a ribeye.. dry and unseasoned for a medium rare. The blooming onion got way smaller since I've last been there. Any smaller and I would compare it's size to a mandarin. It took almost 10 minutes to just get our boxes and pay our bill. the entire experience from start to finish took 2 hours. We didn't even finish our food there. We were just trying to leave considering it's difficult to keep a toddler calm for that extended amount of time.. Look, the staff are great. Very nice and very friendly. From the outside looking in, I fully blame management. They seem to value the quantity of people served over the quality of the experience. As a result, their staff are being taxed so heavily that they are scrambling to offer any kind of service to the customer. The chef is slammed with entirely too many orders to cook to the food to specifications. All aspects of the restaurant experience is diminished to the point that you remember it the next time you want to eat out. Call ahead isn't working for them. They need to be able to hire more staff to take on the work load they have lined up damn near out the door, or switch to reservations so they can throttle back how many customers the staff have to serve at a time. But that's just my point of view. Maybe it was a bad night. New staff. Issue in the kitchen. Someone quit or didn't show up to work. Anything is...
Read moreI'd been very ill, (not covid) most of the summer until I had to be finally hospitalised in October. I'd lost my appetite due to cronic renal complications. Anyway, I lost 30lbs over 5 months, I wasn't over weight. Trying to gain it back has been rough, nothing tastes good. Until... Outback. OMG! Best take out meal I ever had. I got a small sirloin, baked potato, they added in some fresh fruit since I wasn't a fan of the sides they had yesterday (I'm given to understand they change daily) There was also a brown, at least 6" roll. Never tasted anything like it. The fruit was orange slices and a couple strawberries. And everything was most delicious. I couldn't have ask for a better meal, and I have enough left over for a meal for me today too. Between the excellent value, the curbside delivery and great taste you can't go wrong. I loved everything about it and will be ordering take away from Outback for some time now that I know. Thanks Outback for giving me an appetite once again.
