A Prime Experience at Andreas Prime in Allen, Texas
In a culinary landscape saturated with mediocrity disguised as luxury, it is a rare and genuine pleasure to discover a steakhouse that understands — truly understands — the art of hospitality and the sanctity of a perfect cut of beef. Andre’s Prime, tucked unassumingly in Allen, Texas, is not just another steakhouse; it is a cathedral for those who worship at the altar of prime beef.
Service Beyond Expectations
From the moment I entered, I was met with a warmth and professionalism that set an immediate tone for the evening. The maître d’ — a distinguished gentleman I believe named Steve — orchestrated the dining room with the grace and attentiveness of a seasoned conductor. His attention to detail ensured that each guest felt uniquely cared for, a trait increasingly rare in the modern dining scene.
My server for the evening was Ken, who also presides over the bar. Ken’s service was nothing short of exemplary — a balance of friendly familiarity and polished professionalism. His deep knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm for the food elevated the experience before a single plate hit the table.
A Steak to Remember
I chose the ribeye, paired with sautéed mushrooms and the indulgent potatoes gratin. At Ken’s suggestion, I also sampled two classic accompaniments: béarnaise sauce and a creamy horseradish — both crafted with admirable precision.
Yet the ribeye itself was the undeniable star of the show. Cooked to absolute perfection, it required no embellishments — a testament to the kitchen’s respect for their ingredients and technique. Each bite delivered a sublime interplay of rich, beefy flavor and luxurious, buttery texture, capped by a flawless sear. Astonishingly, even when revisited the next day via the humble microwave, the steak retained its remarkable quality — a feat so rare it borders on miraculous.
The mushrooms were earthy and expertly seasoned, serving as a soulful counterpoint to the ribeye’s richness. Meanwhile, the potatoes gratin arrived as a golden, bubbling masterpiece — comfort food at its most elegant.
Atmosphere: Quirky Charm
It would be remiss not to mention the restaurant’s one eccentric note: a Christmas tree still standing proudly in the springtime, seemingly repurposed as an Easter tree. Yet somehow, in the warm, lively energy of Andre’s Prime, this whimsical detail felt less like an oversight and more like a symbol of the restaurant’s unapologetic spirit. When food and service achieve such heights, one hardly quibbles over décor; indeed, it becomes part of the restaurant’s charm.
Final Verdict
Andre’s Prime offers an experience that transcends the simple act of dining. It reminds us why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place: impeccable food, genuine service, and a space where time slows and pleasures deepen.
In an era where so many establishments chase fleeting trends, Andre’s Prime stands tall — a proud standard-bearer of tradition, quality, and heart. I will most certainly return, and next time, I may even ask Ken to craft me a cocktail to match the magic coming from the kitchen.

Read moreWe came here for my birthday as my parents had been here before so they had to show it off to me. We each ordered something different and then shared so I can talk about what my favorite was out of everything. We ended up ordering the lamb meatballs, tuna sashimi, and baked olives for appetizers. Of those three, the lamb meatballs by far was my favorite. The bread is also very good, it was rustic with a dusting of something very tasty around it, I wasn't quite sure what that was, but it was good, we ended up taking the rest of it home. For entrees we ordered the Lobster Thermidor, Beef Wellington, and Filet Mignon with lobster bernaise. Believe it or not my favorite was not the one that I ordered, The Lobster Thermidor is to die for! Don't be afraid of the price, of course all these were above $50 a piece, get the Lobster Thermidor if you can. Even the green beans were perfectly cooked. The beef wellington pastry crust was delicious, it had a wonderful Smoky flavor and was still had nice and crispy layers of course. The filet mignon could have used some salt or butter, and the bearnaise side was cold. There was no salt on the table so I just had it as is without wanting to insult the staff. For dessert we had the tuxedo chocolate cake and the coconut cake. The tuxedo chocolate cake had multiple flavors going on I would recommend it. The coconut cake had a drizzle of caramel, and you can really taste the coconut which I appreciated.
The piano player came around and asked us what we wanted to have played, that was a nice touch. Our waiter was very busy with a lot of tables but still took the time to be personable with us and talk us through things. All in all we had a lovely meal I think we sat there for a good two hours and over ate to our delight. Of course I would highly recommend this place, the owner and Chef is Greek so that of course was a delight to hear.
As far as atmosphere and dress we went in our Sunday best, I saw others in formal wear because I think it was prom night, and there was a table of people wearing casual clothes, so I don't think anyone can go wrong here, just do your best. I would say it's an upscale place so you might want to do Sunday Best or better.

The bread and butter they bring to the table is phenomenal. We had to get seconds.
We started out with the lobster bisque. It was very good, but I was a little disappointed with the lack of lobster. In my large bowl there were only about three medium sized pieces of lobster. Disappointing — but the soup was very good.
I tried the crab and avocado stack appetizer. It looked really good. Presented beautifully. It was also pretty tasty. A nice fairly light and healthy appetizer. If you love avocado and crab, I’d recommend it.
My wife ordered the crab cakes and she was very happy with them. She quite liked them.
I ordered the duck entree. I’ve never had duck before, so I thought I’d experiment. Not sure if it’s all duck, or just this duck, but I was not a fan. It was very chewy and a bit stringy. Had to use a knife to cut the pieces. It reminded me of eating sausage more than anything else. The sauce it was served with was good. And the mashed potatoes were delicious.
They provided complimentary dessert since we were celebrating a birthday. We went with the cheese cake which was very good.
The service we received and the drinks were both excellent.
Overall, I’d be willing to give the restaurant another chance. But I definitely won’t be trying the duck again. I’ll stick to the steak in the future.
Three points I’d like to mention: I think the valet service is a little silly and totally unnecessary.
Having to put in your credit card information to make reservations is a hassle and tacky.
The interior of the restaurant is beautiful — but the tables are very close together. It wasn’t a problem for us since there weren’t too many people when we were there, but, if it was a busy night, I would not like to sit so close to other patrons. It’d be impossible to not listen in on the conversations of those sitting next to you.
I look forward to trying the restaurant again in a few months and I truly hope they succeed...
