The worst service! I’m saddened to write this review. I haven’t had lunch with my father in months. He recently survived heart surgery and now needs a knee surgery. I hoped to give him joy in the end of this year. I invited him to Grimaldi’s to cheer him up, as he once owned a pizzeria. He’s also Italian and New York born, so I was hoping it would make him feel at home. I was concerned about other reviews but gave it a chance. Earlier in the week, I was told they don’t accept reservations for Friday. Since he was driving from an hour away, I called as we headed there, the man on the phone said he’d absolutely have a table prepared. I explained my father’s operations and that he cannot stand for long. As we walked inside, a group walked in too. We were ignored for over 10 minutes. Finally I reminded them that I called beforehand, and was told a table would be ready.. repeating that my father could not stand. The young girl said she had to get the group situated first. Why? I saw multiple open tables so I couldn’t understand. They seemed understaffed and disorganized, many tables still weren’t cleaned. The hostess kept disappearing, leaving all of us wondering what’s wrong. Bad signs. Several more minutes we were ignored, so I found a different employee. She said she was aware of my father, and told me the man on the phone was a manager! Apparently the manager told them to prep a table for us. She said they will seat us shortly, then proceeded to ring up someone’s bill and ignore us! I almost walked out in tears with my father, he was so patient and in pain. Finally when my father spoke up, they sat us at a table. Why did it take all of that? He immediately asked for only water and even complimented the waiter, seeing that the waiter was stressed. A few minutes later.. still no drinks! We watched the waiter bring a tray of drinks out to the patio. As everyone was giving attention to the bigger group, my father and I sat neglected. A young lady noticed us and said she will tell the waiter to get our waters immediately. But still nobody gave us any water, my father’s salad never came either, at this point I wondered why the manager wasn’t involved. They prioritized the group and I did read other reviews pointing out the same problems! The atmosphere was beautiful but no one deserves such bad service. It seems they only care about big tips. After all of this, my father remained kind and said he hopes this won’t be the entire experience. Finally a young lady named Caroline saw the distress, and said she is going to be our new server and start our day from scratch, she said she wants us to feel better and make everything right! She was true hospitality, smiling, warm hearted, attentive, and respectful. My father was generous to her in the end, because she completely turned it around. He kindly tipped her as if we were a large group! This should be a lesson! The food was great, but I wouldn’t go back to this location unless they get the staff in order, or unless Caroline is there. They need to show more care for their customers! Someone else needs to operate this establishment. Period. My father should not have...
Read moreThis was a small gathering of 10-12 family members for a birthday celebration for my nephew after loosing my sister, his grandmother to covid the previous day. The food was delicious but after paying for our bills that included a generous tip for each separate receipt. We had actually walked outside the establishment in no hurry and were saying our goodbyes to each other before we went our separate ways to return to different states that we live in and the server came outside to tell us that one of you did not pay. We already knew each of us paid, and wondered why she was accusing us of dine and dash! At first she said someone did not pay, I do not have my receipt for it & I know there were more. My niece looked at all the receipts and explained that they in fact were all there, which the server did agree. One of our members had to leave early because she had small children there and it was already late into the evening, which she was being accused, we all knew that she had paid her bill in full prior to departing along with a tip. We explained that there must be some misunderstanding on the servers part as we all are not thieves! The server stood there fumbling through all her receipts as she was appearing very worried. We reassured her again that we all had paid most with credit cards. Again she said no you didn't because I didn't get a tip from one of you. At this point is when we realized that she was basically demanding a tip from each receipt, not that a receipt & payment had been missing as she first stated. There was no gratuity required listed on the menu. However, there was a cash tips left on the table as well as generous tips included in the payments, but somehow this was overlooked. When the server realized that she had in fact received all payments plus the tips she never utter one single word of apologies for her accusatory actions & tones towards any of us. I was further insulted by the person (assuming it was the MOD) whom I spoke directly with. I returned inside to get some information to contact this company. And was asked did I need something we are closed.. I explained what had just happened with the server and told her that when the server found that she was in fact in error she should've apologized. The MOD pretty much blew it off as though it was there normal customary mode of treating customers with disrespect & disregard.
My first impression was this is a nice quaint pizzeria. But I think it suffices to say that my lasting impression is I would not recommend anyone to go to this establishment because I believe we were profiled and which was very...
Read moreUnfortunately this restaurant was just not a hit for us tonight. we (group of three) went in on a friday night and had the worst possible service. when we were first seated, not a single server came to us for 20 minutes. once our server did come over we ordered -after which we waited another decent amount of time before getting our drinks.we were told a few menu items weren’t available which was totally fine for us and we moved on. yet another large time gap goes by and he finally came back asking if we got our salad, which we didn’t. he went back and yet again disappeared for a while. i’m pretty sure we were his only table considering when he first greeted us he let us know that he wasn’t aware he even had a table. after waiting we got our one pizza and small caesar salad. the pizza ended up being the size we originally wanted even thought he initially told us they were out of the crust used to make it. for the salad all we got was a bowl of lettuce with parmesan cheese. i figured missing croutons wasn’t a big issue so we happily ate anyways. that is until we realized our pizza was burnt and the toppings were completely black and literally flaking into pieces from being so charred. now we didnt hate the pizza but it definitely tasted off and stale (maybe from being burnt?) still we ate what we could with no issue. we decided as a laugh we would start a timer to see how long it would take for him to come back with our bill. during this time he had another table seated and was getting out their orders in seconds, unlike with us. it ended up taking him around 15 minutes when he brought the bill. now i wasn’t planning on writing this review until this last part. when we went to get up and leave, kid you not our server is sitting at his own table doing nothing. not working, not cleaning, and definitely not getting our order out. being in a restaurant for an hour without food and service, having it being burnt and made wrong, and then to find out the reason why you weren’t being served is really disappointing. customer service/being attentive is one of the biggest things a restaurant needs to have and unfortunately that just...
