A literal hole in the wall, I had my doubts about this place when I first walked in. It had that greasy look about it, as I'm accustomed to most Chinese places having, (Including some of the best I've been to.) but what threw me of was a strange smell, like a sort of grease mixed with bathroom smell. It was probably the fish tank they had against the one wall, green with algae.
the other thing that struck me right off the bat were the employees. the girl who took my order was white, next to her was a Mexican man (Or perhaps Puerto Rican?) with his head down against the counter, and the cook who was a young Chinese man. All of them spoke excellent English and were friendly.
I ordered a large pork lo mein, as standard whenever I get Chinese at a place for the first time, it was done quickly and cost around 7 dollars and some change. It also had a unique smell to it, not bad, but different than most places, and came in a paper carton instead of the plastic most places are using now.
As for taste, the most important part, it was passable, not the best I've had but clearly not the worst. Is it someplace I'd go back to? probably. Some of the things I liked about the lo mein is how much pork they put in it compared to other places, and how the noodles weren't dry at all. The steamed cabbage has a bit of a bite to it, which isn't bad, and it's not as salty as some places. the familiar pool of sauce at the bottom of the carton lets you know they made it fresh, and don't bulk make their noodles and just reheat them.
I'll give it a 3 out of 5, If you can get past the dinky locale and greasy atmosphere, it's an average...
Read moreUpdated: Food was great buuuuttttttttt if paying by credit card and getting delivery, double check the delivery persons phone before you sign (their receipt). And do not expect a paper receipt. They automatically have 15% highlighted. Update: 3/16/18 8:12pm. I lowered down to 2 stars from 3 that i have 2 weeks ago. Just ordered a second time. Ordered Bean curd with general Tso sauce. 2 pieces of chicken found in it. So much for vegetarian. Ordered plain fried rice with nothing in it. Opened the rice and loaded with opinions and sprouts. Delivery man said just got ok button on phone. He seemed mad that we didn't because we put in a actual tip amount instead of just okaying the 15% be had highlighted. I was so irritated by being rushed to sign that i didn't even check if the $2.00 coupon i had given him was even taken off the bill. We are literally 3 blocks away, not 15% worth. Food was still good but not...
Read moreThe place looks rundown like any other Chinese restaurant in Allentown. I order from here off and on. I was sick and ordered the Hot and Sour soup. The lady cashier advised me there was no meat in the soup. I ate a quarter of the soup and found chicken in it. Had diarrhea for 3 days. I went back and talked to the lady at the register, and she told me they sometimes put meat in it. I always leave her a nice tip especially due to her having her son there. I told her I wanted a refund, she told me they don’t do that. She would give me a credit. Beware of this place. If they can’t get a simple soup order right, I could only imagine what else is going on behind closed doors. I will never return again. I added the photo of the meat. I checked with other Chinese restaurants and they all said no meat should be...
