If Favorite “Sun” and I had a top 5 favorite hotels list, then the Staybridge Suites Allentown would definitely make the cut. This is an extended stay hotel complete with complimentary amenities for your comfort… and what they don’t have in the room, the staff goes out of its way to find them or a solution. Speaking of the STAFF… they are fantastic!!! Every time we arrive, they treat us like family returning home, and I really appreciate how kind they are to my kid. Thank you Meghan, Robbie, and Lameika for making our stays so enjoyable. |Now, let’s get into the room!! First, they are SPOTLESS and designed like mini apartments with a kitchen (with dinnerware, cookware, microwave, and fridge), bathroom with tub, extra pillows and blankets. We continue to be impressed with the housekeeping staff’s attention to cleanliness… especially the floors and the carpet, which were “eat off the floor clean”. In the morning there is a full breakfast which was pretty good; get there early because it is super crowded. The gym is adequate and there is a pool although we didn’t use it. Can the hotel possibly add two more waffle makers? It’s a popular area and causes quite the traffic jam in such a small space. Just a thought…||Traveler tips: Target (for good grocery deals), Panera Bread, Mensi’s Fro Yo, 5 Below (if you have kids like me), and a gas station are all across the street. There is also a Red Robin and Sonic, although I don’t recommend… (too many inconsistencies.. don’t say I didn’t warn you); Fave Sun instead encourages a try at Miller’s Brewhouse for the handcut fries and burgers (which is in the Target plaza)… I promise, he did not try the brews!!🙂||** sorry, just one more thing to note: while I can appreciate pet lovers who love on their dogs, some people are pet averse. Bringing your Great Dane or St. Bernard to breakfast is not only unsanitary, but totally uncool; not to mention, these dogs have an intimidating presence. No… I do not wish to have dog slobber with my meal and there were kids who were afraid to go into the dining area. Please don’t put the staff in an unfair and awkward position to ask you to remove your pet from the food table… instead… read the very small...
Read moreI would stay here again, but would ask for a quiet location.|We moved to this hotel after an unpleasant experience with a different hotel chain. The front desk agent allowed us to check in early which was extremely helpful. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was amazing. So much space, and very clean! Well worth it after having to move. Huge bonus, Red Robin is a hop, skip and jump away. The food is decent so we ate there about 3 times. Breakfast at the hotel was also VERY good especially considering it is complimentary. This is a great value because we aren't breakfast people but always enjoy having fruit or scrambled eggs. The waffles were a real treat, and there was also fountain soda. The coffee station is 24 hours which was wonderful as well.||Staff was very nice and super friendly.|Location was great. There is a lot of shopping nearby, also close to Dorney Park and several caves we wanted to visit.||The pool was sufficient. I chose this hotel because it has a seasonal outdoor pool - hard to find in PA. But during the summer, I prefer the outdoor pools at the hotels to enjoy the sunshine.||The one drawback - there was a large family staying at the hotel over the weekend and they pretty much dominated the pool area and BBQ grills, blasting music and yelling/singing so loudly. We bought hot dogs from Omaha Steaks (there is so much good shopping in the area) with a plan to use the grills, but couldn't. They started a party at the pool area from early Friday and continued through Sunday. When we were checking out on Sunday, they were in the elevator with boxes of coronas headed to the pool at 11am. Friday night, they blasted music until 1am, so sleep was awful. My window overlooked the pool. Saturday night it was the same all day, I had to ask the front desk to help lower the music. This wasn't even a reserved party, this was just a very loud group. If this is normal for this hotel, it is likely not a place we'll ever be able to use...
Read moreUpon coming into the hotel, there's a fireplace and behind that you see scaffolding. Renovations on the lobby has made breakfasts grab and go. They do have a jacuzzi, separate from the pool. The jacuzzi is in a little domed room. The rooms look as they do in the pictures, the only thing is that the area where the grills are looks nothing like the pictures. The tables aren't cleaned, and they are stacked and the grills were dirty. Like they had to burn off and be scraped. The area is a mess, the grills are falling apart. the utensils, you can tell they haven't seen a good washing bring your own and a tray to cook on. Can't ask cleaning ladies anything they don't speak English. The room was nice and clean, our a/c worked great. The laundry is free, but the dryers don't work properly. They don't heat up right so add a dry towel to the dryer. If you put more than a 1/4 cup of detergent in, it oversuds and the washer stops working. I asked for an ice machine, and was told the clerk would get it for me and just come down. I came down and the clerk was in the office with the door shut. I waited for 5 minutes and went back to my room. Come down again, and there's 8 people standing waiting to check in and the clerk is nowhere around. I don't know, but for the money you pay to stay here, the area to bbq shouldn't be dirty and falling apart. The grills shouldn't be dirty and the tables should be down and accessible, and clean. There should be an ice machine other than the kitchen which is inaccessible to customers because the construction we weren't notified that was going on. That would have been appreciated. The construction workers can be heard from the other side of the hotel, and I'm not talking about the tools. The talking and yelling is louder than the tools. Then you had guests that took the pool area up, we did get to use the second grill but I stood the whole time. All in all I don't know if I'd pay the price to...
