Had a wonderful experience last night at one of their preview nights before they officially open. The service was excellent! Our waitress Yaya was extremely friendly, patient and pleasant. Katelyn was also very nice. This is why I gave it 5 stars. I'm Cuban and was hoping for a more authentic Cuban food spot so I don't have to cook my own food lol or travel to West New York, NJ to eat authentic Cuban food. However, even though it was not 100% authentic Cuban and it was more like a fusion/modern twist, everything we ordered was delicious! (ham croquetas, black bean dip with few plantain & malanga chips, vaca frita sandwich, yuca fries, Rosa bowl with lechón, brown rice, black beans, maduros, aguacate, fried onions and plantain chips and mojo sauce; you don't need the sauce, the lechón tastes good on it's own). For dessert we had the guayaba tres leches and a colada. The cake was yummy. The colada had la "espumita" on top (official) just wish it was hotter. The place itself was very warm and inviting. The music was good. Just change the Guadalupe (Mexican) & San Judas Tadeo candles & statues for San Lazaro & La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre and you are good to go! Lol! šØšŗšš¼šš¼šŖš¼ Best of luck and hopefully see you soon at the ventanita for breakfast especially a pastelito de guayaba y queso š and for some outdoor seating & maybe live music šš» Thank you for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve had this restaurant on my list to try since they opened. My cousin went during their opening weekend and she said it was 10/10 amazing. Unfortunately, my experience was completely opposite.
The restaurant is very beautiful with upscale decor and furnishings. Despite how elevated the interior is, the service was subpar. At a place like this (again basing it off the interior design) I expect servers to ask āis this your first time here?ā and if my answer is yes I need you to give me a run down of popular items and your recommendations. I even expect you to upsell me (would you like to start with a drink or appetizer?) I received none of that. To be honest I have gotten better service at Applebees.
Instead I overhear the server gossiping in Spanish to his teammate about how another person was a horrible waitressā¦
My husband ordered a cafecito and a cubano. I ordered the dulce de leche pancakes and a side of rice and beans for the kids. My husband said heās had better Cubans and this one was way too fatty. His cafecito arrived well after the food and it was cold!! My pancakes were ok and did not taste like dulce de leche, but rather guava (there was a guava version on the menu so I feel like they mixed the sauces).
Our server did not check up on us to ask if the food was ok.
Hopefully, my experience is isolated but I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo excited to visit this new eatery...It was a Friday early evening. Very crowded, no seating available...Not a restaurant size spot, more like a cafe. Sat at the bar to wait for our table. Outdoor seating is available but the tables are metal, they are dusty and there are no umbrellas or awning. Archer drink not available.(It's Friday evening) Junglebird did not have any guava taste and it was 80% ice...Espresso martini was perfection! Fufu appetizer dip texture and flavor no good. Pre made chips were also no good. Beef empanadas were outstanding, loaded with flavorful filling, and fried to perfection. Chicharones I've tasted better from the supermarket. The Cubano sandwiches are very, very good. Will definitely return for one of those and the delicious yucca fries. By the way, fries do not come with the sandwich. Order tequila and was charged $56.00 for four Ocho Reposado shots, which is the cost of a bottle. And last but not at all least they do not have bottled water. Overall the atmosphere was great. The space is colorful. Service was good considering how busy it was. "John" did a great job.Tables are limited so wait time was...
