I been wanting to try this place out for some time and finally got to try this place out. I was informed that this was soul/country buffet. This place was located off Haynes Bridge Road in a private shopping center. There is plenty of parking spots here. I got here around 11:30am on a Tuesday and it was already jumping off with a small crowd. I was seated right away. There is a very good assortment of foods here from fried chicken, country fried steak, biscuits, corn, mac/cheese, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a huge salad bar. I was very impressed by the taste and freshness of the food here. The highlights were the fried chicken as it was super crispy and temperature was just right. The fried chicken was probably the best I have tasted in a while. It was on point. The country fried steak with the white gravy was out of this world. I couldn't believe on how good it tasted. The salmon cakes weren't half bad as well. I enjoyed the fried gizzards and the chicken pot pie. I didn't try the salad bar as I still had to go back to work and didn't want to fall asleep from eating too much. The service was awesome here as our waitress kept refilling our drinks. I can't wait to come back here with some family and coworkers/friends as this place was amazing. I highly recommend this place if you are in the North Fulton area and want some amazing soul/country food.

So my daughter turned 17 years old and I decided to take Midtown gals to Alpharetta to go to Odyssey Escape the room and have lunch. I couldn't decide on where the girls might want to eat because they all like different things. Trying to accommodate 24 people and their palates can be tricky. So I used google and yelp as my aide and both sites had rave reviews for AJ's Home Cooking. I called and Maurice answered and was such a delight. He told me all about the place after listening to me go on and on about this kids and needing a decent size space for 24 people and most important great food. Well they were able to accommodate, allowed me to come in early and put gift bags and table clothes up. The food was delicious, the girls had plates of food and desert as well as ice cream. They were so full we had to sit for a while before driving back to the city. Which I found was hilarious. We had awesome service and everyone was so friendly. I'm thankful I made AJ's apart of my daughters celebration. Home cooking at its best. Not to mention the price was perfect for a great variety of food. Oh, I hate when things look dry and not fresh! No a probable at all. Everything was fresh and the food bar was cleaned and well maintain.

I’ve seen this place in passing plenty of times and finally had a chance to give it a try. I must admit this place offers good pricing considering the area it’s in, it’s only 13$ for all you can eat home cooked meals. The buffet offers little but the quality is definitely there. I enjoyed the fried chicken, wings, homemade spaghetti, and salad options. The dessert was really good as well and I think they offer a good amount of options. I wasn’t a fan of their Mac and cheese but honestly I definitely got my moneys worth. Will be back for the catfish on Fridays I know it’ll be worth it!

AJ's is a step above Sweet Potato over on Alpharetta Hwy, but that isn't a high hurdle to surpass.  There actually are buffets that have decent food at decent prices, but neither of these places succeeds at delivering good food at a value price-point.

The meatloaf was too sweet and too oniony.  The mac-n-cheese was so salty that it was curious.  The stuff kind of tasted as if it had cheap chicken bouillon in it...very, very salty and soupy.  Salisbury steak?  Gadzooks.  It had the texture and flavor of cheap chopped-and-formed beef jerky.  The gravy in which said Salisbury steaks were swimming was fairly tasty.  The chili was more dark red kidney beans than meat and also was sweet.

The good?  Freshly-steamed cabbage without any additives whatsoever, still a bit crunchy.  The Italian-style green beans were just like the Allen's brand out of a can, which isn't a bad thing.  The home-style potatoes were okay.  The greens were passable, although they also came from a can.  The salad bar had fresh and crispy veggies.

The staff was uniformly nice and efficient.  The dining room was clean, although it was as lighted up as brightly as a surgical operating theater.  There are hand sanitizer squirt bottles placed at the buffet, for those germophobes among us.

As somebody else mentioned and I can confirm, the clientèle was almost uniformly elderly.  Nothing wrong with that, as I'll hopefully get there one day and I miss my parents greatly.  But palates apparently become insensitive to taste at some point during the aging process.  AJ's is a hit with a certain demographic and will almost certainly disappoint everybody else.  If you grew up with "home cooking" like the cooking offered...
