2022 UPDATE: They must've sold the business or Simon is no longer owner because the taste of the food has gone WAY down in the past few years. Watch your bill as they added 20% tip to our table of 5 which has NEVER been done there before, most places add gratuity for parties of 6. Which even when all 6 of us dined here for many decades, Simon's never automatically included tip. I wouldn't really have minded but the server wasn't good and never refilled our drinks. We moved in '21 & drove 30 min to eat here twice in 2022 and both times were very disappointing. The flavor is now bland and the meat seems reheated, the service lackluster, the tables dirty(as were the plates) as our server put both of his hands in the center of each plate as he passed them around. Needless to say it is no longer worth the drive or the money. Simon would never let his restaurant go downhill like it is now. And my previous review of decades of consistently great Chinese here is now irrelevant. We won't return.
2019: Been going here with my family for Chinese for quite some time, very good & very clean place. Not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from as the food is always fresh, & always hot when we go, and I'm quite picky. Some of our favorite dishes from here are Mongolian beef, Kung Pao chicken, pork egg foo young, sesame chicken, & walnut chicken to name a few. This restaurant is NOT just like any other Chinese place, as they cook in a healthier way by sauteeing vs deep frying certain chicken dishes and using fresh veggies, not frozen. The chicken coconut soup is very tasty too! Service is always fast & friendly when you dine in. Delivery takes about an hour but has never arrived cold. Please note: certain dishes are better served when you dine in(like the Cantonese pan fried noodles). The numerous 5 star reviews speak for themselves, so dont let the neg reviews deter you from trying Simon's. I am not affiliated with this business but just wanted to share an...
Read moreMy wife and I are from South Carolina and found ourselves in the neighborhood after we needed to visit the Atlanta area for a friend. This all day trip for us was totally unplanned. Lucky for us we saw Simon's Chinese Cuisine on our way back home and decided to take a break from driving and have dinner. As we entered the restaurant I noticed immediately how nice it was. The friendly hostess showed us to our table, which was quickly followed by our server. I was pleasantly surprised when our food arrived so quickly. Shortly after a gentleman arrived to ask how everything was. I assumed he was the manager or perhaps the owner himself. Initially I thought this was a typical how's your food and thank you for coming speech. It was far from that. He showered us with friendship, kindness, and a general interest in us. When we had completed our meal and had a good portion of food left from the bountiful portions, he quickly returned to our table and while our server cleaned off the table, he transferred our food to the to go containers. All while striking up another conversation. I have to say, it's been a long time since I've felt more welcomed and valued as a customer at any restaurant. We will definitely return. It was well worth the stop in our long day...
Read moreMy husband and I have know Simon Chen for 40 years since he first owned China Garden in Roswell. Now his sister, Macy owns it and we moved from Roswell to Alpharetta so we have been going to Simon's since its opening 20 years ago. We just went for a wonderful dinner last Saturday night. Randy, Simon's wife, greeted us as we walked in and always remembers us. Then Simon came over to chat and helped us choose our appetizers, sushi, and dinner. All were excellent, as usual! We have NEVER had a bad dinner there. I've taken my daughter-in-law for lunch and she was also very impressed with the food and ambiance. The restaurant is beautiful and everyone there is so nice and service is great. The selection is large and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. But we never can go without ordering Crab Rangoon and Hot and Sour Soup. The egg rolls are also wonderful but we chose Simon's Sushi Rolls instead this time and it was delicious. Along with the Twice Cooked Pork which we had to take half home for Sunday...YUMMY!! We always have liked Chinese food and Simon's know how to make...
