Our FAVORITE Ramen bar is fabulous! Tried this new place in Alpharetta, in what was the old Haynes Bridge/Old Milton Starbucks location and LOVED everything about the experience! First, there’s plenty of free parking in front and it’s easy to get here off of 400. The inside was clean and minimalist, and had a jazzy vibe with upbeat music and we were immediately greeted with the Japanese “Irashaimasen!” Which means Welcome! Indeed, this place is welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout the visit! We were immediately brought menus and water, and the ramen menu system was explained -basically the ramen soup choices and the toppings, spice level and what the difference was between the soup bases. I chose the Veggie Ramen and my son chose the Slurpin Ramen Pro with Chicken breast. The veggie Ramen was loaded with delicious vegetables that were incredibly fresh. The whole dish tasted so clean and the veggies were not over cooked! If you’re hungry or tend to eat larger portions, I recommend the Slurpin Ramen pro size with added the boiled egg. I can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu. We ordered the salad and it was greasy and had lots of toppings, it was double the size of most side salads with a nice dressing. There’s a lunch special that includes a salad and appetizer with the ramen. The service was fast, friendly and courteous. I ordered a Perrier - they’ll be serving alcohol beverages soon - a cold Japanese beer will be good with ramen! Even little details like the chopsticks with their logo, and the free pens with logo at the door. If they sold the T-shirts that the staff wore, I’d buy one! They’re getting ready to have outdoor patio dining. This location like I said was the old Starbucks gathering Place and it still had that warm “place to be” feeling that this end unit of the brick building had for years. I’m so glad this location was filled by Slurpin Ramen bar. There’s a certain positive and welcoming energy in this place. You know a place is really good when the next day you’re still thinking about how delicious the food was and enjoyable experience was and I can’t wait to go back there again soon! It’s special and I’m so glad that they chose Alpharetta, GA, as their first location outside of SoCal! Thank you! This is now my favorite #1 Ramen place in...
Read moreIt's pretty good and another in a very small number of Authentic ramen shops in the Atlanta area. We have many ramen shops, but few authentic Japanese style ones. That being said, it's Hakata style Tonkotsu which is for some reason the main style anyone ever wants to open over here. Japan has so many different styles, but this is the only one we mainly see and I just would like a little more variety. They mainly have 2 items here. One is the Tonkotsu Ramen and the other is a Tonkotsu Gyokai Tsukemen. While it can be argued that the ramen is authentic, I didn't think it was great. I feel like Okiboru, Umaido, Hajime, and Jinya all do a better Tonkotsu to different degrees. It's still worth getting, if you are in the area, however. The protein choices all tasted decent, and the noodles were pretty good too. The main thing the Tonkotsu ramen lacked was richness. You can add their umami oil to help this, but the issue is that it also adds a little spice that you might not want. It also cost extra money, where the cost of the ramen is already on the higher side, and the flavor of the oil itself could be a little stronger. I think they should really give the option to add a kotteri or minced pork fat to help retain the pork flavor and add more body and umami to the broth. However, if you're palate favors more of the subdued Western flavors, then this ramen might actually be perfect for you. To each their own. Now on the flipside, I really enjoyed their tsukemen. The added Gyokai broth or dashi really ups the umami, as well as the concentration of the broth. It's still a little thin for a Tonkotsu Gyokai tsukemen but that's just my personal preference. If the ramen had the same impact of flavor as the Tsukemen then I would have given the place more stars and a higher recommend. I also had the takoyaki, which were great, and the gyoza, which were serviceable. I think they were possibly from frozen. Overall, I highly recommend you try it on your own and make your own decision as I'm sure some of my friends will like the ramen much better than I did. The Tsukemen was great, though. I'll definitely go back...
Read moreWe visited during their promotion day (2/17-2/19, first 200 bowels) which offering BOGO for Slurpin Ramen & Veggie Ramen (No Tsukemen). They couldn't do combo meal with the promotion (I was hoping they could just charge the combo upgrade difference, but it didn't seem like they could do it).
Toppings are a bit expensive. And for someone who isn't that familiar with ramen, it would be a bit hard to make the choices. Wish their ramen by default would already come with certain common ramen toppings (e.g. half egg, bamboo shoots, etc) so it can cut down some customizations (or probably increase the price by a dollar or two and say can choose 2-3 toppings). Right now if you don't may topping selection, you only get seaweed and green onions.
The meat topping, Chashu and Fatty Pork, the two seems to be the same thing?! At least that how they were served on our table (both seemed to just be Fatty Pork). Not sure if that was a mistake as I see many other people's have their pork seared, that's probably the Chashu.
As for the broth for the Slurpin Ramen, it was okay. Not bad, but we have had better somewhere else (more richer/flavorful).
Official website hasn't been updated on the opening hours for this location. Hope that will be updated soon!
The dining room isn't very large, so tables and seats could get filled up quickly, make sure to go early during the rush hours to ensure you don't have to wait.
The employees we had interaction with were all very friendly and professional. Food service was quick. We would recommend this place.
There are a lot of ramen restaurants in the area, hopefully they can do well and be another long lasting restaurant...
