Read below for info on the food (it’s amazing), but I wanted to update this review with a note about their sake selection. It’s become a specialty of theirs, with a total of 10 different types, some that you won’t find anywhere else, all delicious. The show-stopper is Taru, aged in casks of Japanese cedar wood. It’s a bit of a odd concept, and sipped by itself it’s unusual but nothing special. Paired with the food, though… it’s incredible! It was very surprising to me how it came alive when sipped along with my meal, it’s definitely worth a try.
Their sake-master (or at least deeply-appreciative and knowledgeable sake enthusiast) Chris (Thai short name “X”) can guide you to find what you want if he’s working that night. But you can hardly go wrong with any of the selections :-)
Now, onto the food…
Absolutely fantastic(!) Thai food, some of the very best I’ve had anywhere, and that covers a LOT of ground. This is genuine Thai food, cooked by a Thai National who attended cooking school in Thailand. Thoom herself is pleasant and gracious, and everything is super-delicious. As I said, everything is good, by the Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup with chicken) is outstanding. Rich, creamy and piquant, it’s the best of all the dozens (and dozens) versions I’ve tried. I call attention to the Tom Kha Gai, but everything I’ve had here has been exceptional. (One note: Spicing tends to run towards the hot/Thai end of things. If you normally order “hot” at typical American Thai restaurants, maybe go for “Medium” here, ditto for medium to mild.) You’ve GOT to try this place; if you have any affection for great Thai food, you’ll become a regular like me! (Tell Thoom that Dave...
Read moreWhen you walk through the door at Thoom's Thai Kitchen you are welcomed into an atmosphere of true Thai hospitality. The decor is lovely and it is refreshing to gaze upon the garden fresh herbs that will be used to prepare your dish.
George offered attentive and knowledgeable table-side manner. He was very kind and made me feel like a valued guest. He suggested delicious recommendations that had my taste buds dancing with delight.
I enjoyed the Cheese Rolls to start. They were crispy and the flavors were well balanced. I was in the mood to try something new and this dish heightened my appetite for more.
My entree: Basil Chicken with Jazmine Rice, exceeded my expectations of flavor! The chicken was tender and the rice was fragrant and cooked to perfection. The fresh basil (my favorite) brightened up the dish. I must say, the brown sauce brings the dish altogether with the perfect balance of salty & sweet.
For dessert, George prepared a beautiful slice of Coconut cake. For this dessert I have no words. I just recommend that you try it. It will be hard to put down your dessert spoon.
I enjoyed my experience from start to finish at Thoom's and will return whenever I am in the mood for an extra special treat.
I sincerely wish this business and it's staff a prosperous...
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten here countless times and the food is consistent and reasonably priced. This particular time I botched the day and was running behind and coincidentally, we walked into Thoom's on the busiest night I've seen it there. There was a 4-some in front of us and the host explained it would be a 10 minute wait. We followed after and she said the same thing, 10 minute wait. We went outside and scrambled for another option because we had a movie to catch in 45 minutes and worried we wouldn't make it. To our surprise, it took them about 5 minutes and we were sat. Since we knew the menu well, within a few minutes we ordered and because we were so quick, we got our food at the same time the previously mentioned 4-some got their appetizers. We ate our food, paid the bill, and we're on our way in 40 minutes. For the restaurant to be near capacity and still provide us with quality service and food, in an expedited fashion, is a testament to their success. The only critique I have is the restaurant is loud and the decor/layout could be updated to maximize the setting. Highly recommend! Get the basil chicken with the fried egg. There medium spice is any American cuisine...
