Belmar, what has happened? I had been enjoying your baked goods since 1984. One of my absolute favorites was your cherry pies. They used to be chock full of cherries, top to bottom and side to side, with a thick, sweet filling that was not runny or gelatin like. My wife picked up a cherry pie, a scone and a date nut coffee cake. You did well on the scone and date nut coffee cake but your once impeccable cherry pie was a serious disappointment. Wow, look at my pictures and videos. I have endured two pieces of the cherry pie. It was a treasure hunt trying to find any cherries. One piece that I had yesterday I found only two (2) cherries. Today I tried again and managed to find five (cherries) in the gelatinous glob of pie filling. Even at room temperature the filling jiggled like cheap gelatin and had a dull red-pink color, (see video), not a deep red of a pie full of cherries. The pie crust was excellent but the filling was awful. Please abandon your current cherry pie filling recipe and go back to your original recipe. The ingredients in order as listed on the box (see photo) were: Filling- cherry, water sugar, corn starch. The ingredients in order of actual content based on my visual and palatal inspection were in order of content of the filling: water, sugar, corn starch, gelatin, just a few cherries and artificial food coloring. Belmar Bakery please rise to your prior greatness, do not cut corners to save on costs. I will gladly pay a quality price for a quality product. I will return and check out your once famous cherry pie. If you return to your greatness I will change my review to reflect your restoration of your quality.

My family has ordered cakes for the last 30 years, this year is the last. When I ordered the cake, everything was fine. When I went to pick it up, it wasn’t exactly what I had asked for so I asked for the correction. When cutting into the cake, the consistency was different and doughy. As soon as we bit into the cake you could tell that it was not fully baked. I return the cake and ended up speaking to the manager/owner who argued with me on the ingredients and the fact that she said it was fully cooked and was a vanilla cream cake and that is what it’s supposed to look like. I explained no that it made my family sick and we threw the pieces cut away. She finally gave a refund. Sadly this is the last special occasion will give Belmar business. Edit at 6:49am 08/06/24 I’m so glad the owner responded and tried to flip the conversation. She argued with me for a good 10 minutes on the ingredients and no way they can make you sick, until a gentleman pulled up to pick up his cake. I simply stated we got sick from eating what bites we took from this cake. At no point did I say anything about raw eggs or even eggs at all. She is the one who stated “this cake is not made with eggs, it is a vanilla crème cake. It can not make you sick.” WHO orders a vanilla crème cake instead of regular vanilla?? Obviously some wires were crossed when I requested regular vanilla. If you look at the photos, the cake is definitely not fully done and she pushed her finger into the cake and felt that it was clearly not done.

This is only our second time at this particular bakery. I should note, both times we got a last minute cake, the first time cookies too. I went back after the first time for a couple reasons, one being super friendly customer service, the lady was happy to write a quick message on cake for us, boxed everything up, while being happy to be there. The first cookies and cake were awesome. The icing alone is magnificent. Which is why i was soooo disappointed this time. Grabbed a quick birthday cake, asked if they could write the boys name on it, nope sorry everyone that could write on the cake is gone it was 5pm ... which honestly it wasn't the end of the world just mildly irritating that i had to buy yet another thing, JUST for a name, . then we go to cut into the cake and the entire second layer is frozen solid. My husband had to hit the knife to get it to cut through, like hard ice cream. So we only got to eat the top layer. I should also note it set in a hot 85° vehicle for 45 min, then another hour while we ate, i would have hated to see how much would have been frozen then. So i guess if you need a quick cake solution go elsewhere, otherwise you get half your cake. But if you have time to order or get it the day prior, (early in the day if you want words on it 🤣) so that way it has time to thaw.

My family had been going to Belmar Bakery for 30+ years. We used to recommend the bakery to everyone we know, because we never had a single problem... until about a year ago, last October, and again just today. "Three strikes and you're out" would be the appropriate phrase. Last year, I ordered a coconut cake for my sister's birthday because that's what she wanted and always got, for many years. For some reason, they changed the recipe and added a lemon filling. I had not been told about this, so when I took it home, we cut into it and my sister was very upset. She threw it out... $40 wasted. I called and the lady on the phone told me that's how they've always made the coconut cake. I said I knew very well that it hadn't been made with lemon filling the previous 12 years we got it before. I asked for my money back and was hung up on. I called back and they said we must have gotten disconnected (sure). We got a new cake that was made how we always had gotten it, and we let it go. Last October, my mother ordered non-decorated sugar cookies for Halloween. She was going to decorate them with her grandchildren and didn't mind having to pay $40 for them. She was very specific about what she wanted and the order was taken. When I picked them up for her, I opened the box and alas... freakin' decorated. I told the cashier that that wasn't what we ordered, and she got snippy with me. Good lord, whatever happened to customer service?! I was forced to take them, and my mother called and talked to the manager for nearly an hour. End result? We had to scrape them off ourselves because they couldn't make new cookies by the party the following day. Finally... today. My mother ordered another coconut cake. Asked for no lemon filling. Was denied. Asked to have Happy Birthday written on it (like we have every year). Was told it couldn't be done with coconut on top. Asked if she could pay for it when she picks it up since she didn't have money deposited until the day of. Was given an attitude about that. Talked to a manager and was told that they couldn't make her happy and wouldn't take the order. So, Belmar Bakery, my family will no longer be coming in. And I will be letting everyone we know to not go there. We will be going elsewhere and recommending our friends and family to the better...

I had a decent experience with their service. Scenario: I am currently in Ohio while my guy friend just recently relocated to Amarillo. Neither of us know much of anything of the area. Today happens to be his 30th birthday! I googled nearby bakeries that delivered near his job. Found this place decent reviews. So I trusted the reviews and that the website would do them justice. I had an ideal to have a small portion of lasagna (which was on the menu on the website) and cupcakes delivered to my friend since I am not in town to do this. Come to find out, lasagna is no longer served and the small portion is not an option either. I settled for just cupcakes and $10 delivery to go 10 minutes down the road. Not extremely reasonable for distance, but I understand paying for convenience. So after about 3 calls of my own indecisiveness I was able to settle my order only to find out my total including shipping had to be at least $25 to be delivered. The PROS TO THIS ALL, I talked to Mary. She seemed to play it by ear because every question I asked I was put on hold to have verified. She was a nice young lady. Not extremely personable as I was excited I was doing something special for my friend on 30th bday. She gave me what i asked for didnt offer many suggestions, since I'm unfamiliar with the company it self I wasn't sure what the best options were. She definitely lacked rapport but she was extremely pleasant. She didnt go the extra mile, but she did just enough. I am sure she will be more knowledgeable in time. My friend did receive his goodies at the appointed time I requested which was perfect. He enjoyed them all and he mentioned he would try you all again! Thank you for your services that were provided and making his day special although he wasn't able to try out...
