I came in Saturday night with my wife. It was a long overdue date night. We sat at a table near the bar. Our server was very attentive, and made great recommendations. We had two small appetizers. One was the octopus and potatoes with pickled pearl onions, and the other was some very thin sliced beef with garnish and a dab of sauce. All were really good. We enjoyed well made cocktails and then ordered our dinner. We shared a 12 oz ribeye served on saffron rice. It had some shrimp, chorizo sausage, and some grilled serrano peppers. The flavors were incredible. We each picked out a dessert and had coffee. We were discussing how we would like to make this our regular date night place, and then disaster. As I was sitting there when my chair broke and I went to the ground in a very full restaurant. I was mortified. I am not going to lie, I am a big and tall man. I am 6'6" tall and weigh 290. I looked up the chair they use and the max capacity is 225-250. My wife, who is petite, was also uncomfortable in her chair because she could not sit back in it without it giving way. I never leaned back in my chair. The manager came up, grabbing the chair and asked if there was anything he could do. Honestly, I didn't know what to say. I am not one to make a scene, and I was very uncomfortable at that point. Looking at the chair the bracket had just given way. It seemed like a nice chair, but it was not well made. We spent ~$260 (including tip) that night for the two of us. Nothing was offered to make things better. We walked out feeling like we were doing a walk of shame. They will need to have different chairs before I go back, or I'll need to sit in a booth.
**Update: The GM has gotten in contact with me. I think he’s part Private Investigator 😂 He and I had a very good talk and things have been made right. My wife and I will be returning. I appreciate them reaching out so quickly. They have kept a customer and we have kept a great place for...
Read moreWas invited to go on a journey according to our waitress. She was fine at first, but turned into a waitress that didn't seem to know what was going on. We were told to order the items based on category, and they would come out in that order.
We ordered the sliders, a flatbread, and then two entrees. A cold salmon tapas came out prior to everything else, but we didn't order it. The person that brought this to us seemed confused. They took it away and then our waitress came out asking about it. The salmon ordered was the entree. Ok, no big deal. Next came the sliders, which were pretty good, though I would have assumed the cheese to actually be melted. They did taste ok though.
Our entrees came out next....the salmon and ragu pasta. Within a minute or so, the flatbread came out. This was supposed to come out before the entrees. By this time, I didn't want to eat a flatbread and let my main entree get cold. We told the waitress we just didn't want it any longer. Before the entrees, yes....but during...no, and that wasn't how it was explained it would arrive. Either she didn't pay attention that the flatbread was ready, or the kitchen messed up in timing. The entrees were fine. We ate them and asked for the check.
The waitress stressed how she had the flatbread removed from the check. Good!, You weren't going to get the $8 or $10 for it anyway.
That's two starters that were taken back and assuming thrown away. Hell, leave it on the table for us to test, even if not ordered or sent away. At least try to salvage the customer if it's already prepared. Instead, you lost two starters and two customers.
Food was good, but waitress was...

Last year, they offered pasta classes, and nearly everything is made in-house. From artisan cocktails to the perfect patio, dinner under the stars, and brunch served seven days a week, Savor consistently delivers inventive specials. Most impressively, you forget you’re in the heart of West Texas!
Today, I had the Smoked Chorizo Stew, a special dish not typically on the menu. It was one of the most beautifully presented plates I’ve had in Amarillo. While the flavors needed a bit more development—the smokiness was subtle, and I missed the depth of complexity I was hoping for—it was still delicious. Special dishes can be challenging to perfect, especially stews that need time to develop their full flavor. The general manager, Mike Bartels, stopped by to ask for feedback and then brought out their homemade bread to pair with the stew. The bread was spot on—crispy and flaky on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. It helped balance the dish perfectly.
Their fall drink menu was excellent. I enjoyed an apple cinnamon cocktail that paired nicely with the creamy chorizo sauce.
Having dined at Savor half a dozen times, I’m always impressed by their innovative menu and the team’s creativity in keeping things fresh. While not every visit is flawless, I respect their willingness to take risks. I’ll definitely continue returning, eager to try something...
