La Casa Maya — Restaurant in Ames

We went for lunch and had the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. It started off fine, we sat down to our table, got our drinks, and some chips and salsa. After a few minutes we ordered our food and nothing was wrong. Then we waited… and waited and waited. After about 20 minutes I notice about 3 other tables that got sat after us had gotten their food before we did, I look around to see where our waitress is because she hasn’t been by since our order was taken and she’s sitting at a table talking to other coworkers. I went to the bathroom then was going to talk to her but when I came out she was nowhere to be found so we waited another 10 minutes and asked another wait staff about our order and they had no clue about it. We waited there longer to find our order was never put it and our waitress had disappeared and we were never made aware or told or anything and when asked if we could just have our bill for our drinks because we no longer wanted to wait around that waiter had disappeared for another while without our bill and so we threw a couple bucks on the...

TERRIBLE service! It was not even very busy. Took over 5 minutes for her to even ask us what we wanted to drink. Took 10 minutes then to bring queso and take our orders. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, she never came and checked on us once during this time. The people next to us came in after us and they got their food 20 minutes before us. So finally we got up and asked a staff member where our food is and where our waitress is. 15 minutes later our waitress came out with our food, literally slammed the plates down and never came back. I have come here a few other times before and absolutely loved it and I was extremely disappointed with this service. When I was paying, I asked if there was any way I could get a lesser bill due to the quality of the evening and they said no, did not seem to care AT ALL. No apologies. Just said “we will talk to her.” The small amount of food I did eat was amazing, however I figured it had been spit on by how angry our waitress was that I couldn’t even eat it. I paid $27 for this. Decided to give this place a try, unfortunately it wasn’t a great experience. We went on a Friday evening and they were fairly busy but staff seemed to be very attentive. Upon being seated chips and salsa came immediately and our drink orders as well. We ordered our food and waited. First, we were brought two plates of food that was not ours. It sat at our table in front us of us for at least three minutes before two workers came over and took the plates of food and took the food to another table! GROSS. We didn’t touch the food or plates but that still doesn’t seem right. We then waited a long time for our food and finally I got my food, while my boyfriend continued to wait. I was about finished with my plate when my boyfriend finally got his plate of food. I ordered street tacos, however they came on flour tortillas.
