Van Hemert's Dutch Oven Bakery is a wonderful place to have a nice lunch. We enjoyed our on the light side with soup and half a sandwich plus you get a cookie. There are many baked goods to temp you. Tried my first Dutch letter and I was in heaven! Love the almond flavor! Also my friend got the lemon windmill which was yummy too. They also have cookies and cupcakes. We both bought some bread too. Read moreMy wife and I got our wedding cake there three years ago and now are semi-regulars. Everyone who works there has been friendly, and now with our new born son it is even more fun to go in and have them say "hi" to him as well.
The other regulars seem to enjoy the place as well. My guess is donuts and not overly strong coffee, unlike most coffee shops have, really set the mood to be friendly, easy going, and a great place to relax.

Instantly brought back so many memories of my mom taking me and my sister to a small town bakery in Sheldon, Iowa. It was called the Prairie Queen Bakery (it’s been closed for years).
