Running business errands, I had seen the sign for this place as I was exiting the freeway. As I am always down for a real taco shop and the constant disappointment that comes along with my search, I was trying not to get overly excited. Well, I was not disappointed in the least. Very unassuming from outside, I walked in to a place that very much reminded me of a SoCal taco shop. An pie case with handmade assortments of pies and cakes to the right, a mixture of put together booths and tables to the right and running down the center. There was a counter to the back with shelving stuffed with items for sale as well as office supplies for the business all mashed in together. This is a great sign! It means this is a family type run restaurant and now, I am getting excited. I am thinking "homemade food, here we come!". The server brings out this menu that is a half of sheet of paper with copied photos and print, but the food looked wonderful. It looked real, not stock or photoshopped. The menu had tacos, rolled tacos (Flautas), quesadilla and a torta. We place our order for a total of 6 tacos (2 Carnitas and 4 Asada) and sodas. The sodas quickly arrived with chips and a salsa that had some smokiness to it. Very good, actually. Our server had also dropped off the 2 taco sauces (red and green) for our upcoming tacos. I heard the spatulas in the back hitting the grill and the sizzle of the meat. One of the best sounds in the business as it the siren of freshness and it was now calling to my inner taco spirit. The 10 minutes it had taken, was a walk in the park as I was thinking 15 or more, went by with a flash and all.of a sudden, we had our tacos in front of us. First glance, larded corn torts, check. Meat, onion and cilantro only, check. Smell, AWESOME!!!! Let me tell you, it was taco heaven. It was flavorful, real, hand cut, onions were crisp, the Cilantro was not wilty nor discolored. The red sauce was a smoky flavor, the green was tangy as they both should be. I had asked for something spicier (just pass along the hottest you have that is not out of a bottle).... BOOM! A beautiful Arbol oil combination that was pretty intense (I LOVE spicy hot), wow! That is the hottest I have ever recieved in Ohio, PA, Upper NY and MI. I could stand hotter but, it was extraordinary. I had walked to the bathroom which is down a hallway in the far back. The kitchen door was open and it was quite clean. I could see the prep area with onions, tomatoes, chilies, and cilantro were being chopped. Very exciting! The bathroom was well.appointed and very clean. The server did not bother us but kept dropping off refills as we needed. That is service. We loved our food, service and that sauce! It is now on our very short list of go to taco shops (only 6 on there in 7 years). Kudos to the cook, server and the owner. Well done and...
Read moreI ordered a 65$ takeout order 2 weeks ago..ordered a couple birria taco dinners, per usual so I know what to expect, and WAS my favorite birria in town...when I got home I thought maybe they gave me the wrong order and accidently gave me street tacos instead bc the birria didn't look like it ever had...had no color that it should have if it was dipped and fried w the consume sauce..totally dry..no cheese inside...also, the consume which is usually so flavorful and delicious tasted like water...i wish i was lying ... we ended up throwing away the entire 3rd dinner and didnt even finish each dinner to ourselves...made it through one "birria" and tossed them...we were very upset...the enchiladas mineras was very good per usual so i dont know what happened with the birria..i understand things happen but what really upset me about this business is that I immediately emailed their customer service email to let them know of what happened...I figured I'd at least get a response but they never even responded to my email...that's pretty crappy for a business to treat customers like that, who usually come every other week and spend over 60$ each time...sad to say I haven't been back...
Read moreSo i really like this place. The food is REALLY good. I do not recommend ordering them through door dash. Either they don't actually have cheesecake, they keep forgetting it, or the dasher is stealing it? I don't know but I've ordered cheesecake 3 times and have never received it. Door dash only offers half credit and while I would love to finally try this elusive cheesecake I dont think i will try ever again until I can go to the restaurant. I keep losing money on this:( also for some reason the Gordita has a vegan option but it doesn't let you order without choosing a meat and even if you write in the instructions that you dont want the meat you still get the meat. Which is fine if you were just curious but bad if youre an actual vegan. Anyway I do really like their food i just wish I could try...
