Horrible--Went on a Sunday night 6pm raining. ( 7/10/21) The cashier was angry and rude to a very polite customer with a baby and stroller. (mixed race)---Wouldn't take order , wouldn't clean table --no cleaning supplies available to patrons. Rude cashier references a table full of cleaning supplies in the middle of the venue--just hand sanitizer there. Slammed cleaning fluid bottle on counter in front of parent and baby (all this really happened) as if someone holding a baby should clean one of many disgusting tables--oh yeah and the place wasn't so busy at all.
They ordered food for eat in--you get a number and the server is supposed to bring food out. Food came up , other eat in patrons were brought their food. Their number was "called" and they were told to come to the counter. This customer with baby (not a crying baby) in his arms had to juggle hot soup other food as rude counter person just stared and glared and brought food to other patrons.
I saw no "trigger" from the customer- clearly a worker with mighty big issues. They asked for restroom and the worker wouldn't even answer--just stood there. The food here can be ok but why inflict potential rudeness on yourself when there are so many other great Mexican places in the Valley--suggestions: JJ Brothers in Hadley just over the Coolidge Bridge to NOHO--fantastic and made with love, Burritos at Maple Farms behind the mall, a new place opening on Kellogg Place. I'd avoid this like the plague. If you check Yelp reviews for the past two to three years you'll see plenty with this experience at this location and their other locations. Not sure what happened --get new counter help. Supervise this person. Covid is no excuse for an employee taking their bad day out on a smiling patron carrying...
Read moreFood okay. Service TERRIBLE! We like to patronize local independent food establishments and generally don’t have high expectations. We like the adventure and are okay with the outcome. We popped into LaVeracruzana for a quick bite before a concert at the Mullins Center. We ordered at the counter and took our table number and sat down. In the FOURTY FIVE minutes we waited for food, they tried to deliver two other orders to us. We went back up to the counter twice after waiting 30 minutes and we were first told 5-10 minutes. I said we’d take the quesadilla as soon as it was ready. After finally getting our order presented 15 minutes later on the counter after they scrambled to find it, I patiently pointed out that this took 45 minutes, the young man’s immediate response was “I can give you a refund.” I declined. I was just hoping for an apology of any kind. I then asked for the sour cream my wife asked for when ordering and was told it was $1. I asked “even though we waited almost an hour you’re going to charge me a dollar?” Yes. (I also tipped 20% at check out). I politely asked “you aren’t even going to apologize for the long wait?” His response “I offered you a refund.” I said okay, I’ll take the refund. He said then I’d have to give the food back. Ugh. Good customer service isn’t that hard. Just be kind and reasonable. Too bad this guy is on the counter. The place seemed to be in a bit of chaos not able to track where...
Read moreOverall, I enjoyed my dining experience at this location. Located at the edge of downtown Amherst, La Veracruzana is a lively spanish restaurant. With colorful decorations, vibrant music, and a rather full space (at least on Saturday nights), this is a great restaurant to eat at. The food is tasty and extremely filling, while still more than reasonable in terms of the price. Another good facts to note is that the bathrooms are clean!
The only real negative is the huge wait - we ordered at around 6:20 and food didn't arrive until closer to 7:15. But the staff more than make up for it! They gave us a free plate of chips while we were waiting. This place also offers an expand selection of spicy dipping sauces - self serve of course - and fill your own water. I truly had a...
