I'm a very serious "taco" 🌮 guy, I had been across the street in a Chinese & Pho zone is "cash only" dining, which I don't care for...so hidden away next to Walmart is this place. I've never been, it takes me a few minutes as the kid "didn't take my order" but gave me a drink cup...I don't really understand as I've got to use the restroom & wash my hands...I was given the WRONG code ??! First visit, their Menu is very large and my stepdaughter used to work at a different one I decided on a 3 taco plate w guacamole as something the "trucks" don't really offer... These were quite small and there wasn't a lot of guacamole, the plate came w beans & cheese in ridiculously small portions...good but 3 fork fulls was a serious 🙄 let down. About that time I "realized why they put 3 "different types of salsa" as I'd ordered their sampler plate, I don't eat "green tomatoes" so that's one you'll want to try for yourself. The meat was OK, somewhat chewy w some decent flavor, just quite small for $10 order it's NOT a good bargain...tacos are $2 here around town 😋 Overall it was disappointing plus I stopped at the VFW to buy 2 more tacos 🌮 as I was still very hungry just 2hrs after...you won't be seeing me at Rubio's ever again... The prices were high/ portions crazy small but it's "dead" with maybe 6 other diners but there's 4 employees who are sitting around on the clock ⏰ doing nothing...perhaps this explains the problem of no...
Read moreFirst time coming to this place, I politely asked for a menu so I don’t hold up the line since the menu is only infront of the customer line. However, they don’t have paper menu so I ordered quickly to not hold up the line. My order was taken down wrong so they had to redo the order. Out of my observation from the first encounter I had when I asked for a menu the cashier asked this other employee (may be the manager) if they had paper menu to which he replied to me in a mono tone “no, we do not have paper menu”. Maybe he had a long day or had been stressed out I don’t know but I didn’t mind it. Until I waited and waited and waited for my food. Mind you there was at least 5 customers who got there after me and they had received their orders. I was surprised it was taking long but it seemed like they had my food to the side because after all those people got their food, finally I got mine and it was cold. I normally just brush it off but since I am local I can’t avoid this restaurants food so today I am giving them a low star rate. In the future I, as a customer will do my best to communicate better so we can prevent this. The tacos were still good even though they were cold. Every time I go back there I...
Read moreOne star lost from atmosphere simply because there's always a weird smell lingering, not sure if it's a mixture of all the food smells, but it's not pleasant. It smells rather like a school cafeteria or slightly like a public bathroom. It's not for lack of the employees keeping the place clean. It's immaculate. Superb service. Never had a complaint and I visit here at least 3 times a month. Just the weird smell, sometimes it's not as string. But most times it's extremely potent. Not enough to stop me from eating however. Would still recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Quality of food and value and service is amazing. Just eat outside (they have ample outdoor seating available) if you are pregnant or sensitive to strong smells 😊 (pictures are actually from different trips to another Rubio's location, the Fullerton one, in Amerige Heights Towne Center, but the review still applies, as the smell is here also... and of course everything else...
