Big Apple Bagels — Restaurant in Anderson Township

This place has gone down hill big time. I’ve been going here for years, but it has now reached the point where I don’t believe that I will be patronizing again.

The place was beyond dirty. The floors, windows, tables, chairs, ceiling, etc. we’re filthy. There was a random box in the middle of the seating area that probably should have been in the back. On top of all of that flys we’re everywhere throughout the restaurant. It makes me wonder what the areas where customers can’t see look like. Also how does it pass a health inspection. The owners clearly do not care about the restaurants appearance or cleanliness.

The staff is very rude. They make you feel like an inconvenience when you’re ordering or asking a question. Also half of the staff wear air pods, and ignore you when you try to ask a question since they can’t hear you while wearing those. Some of the staff weren’t wearing gloves when handling food.

The bagels are good, but that’s about it. The bacon is disgusting and very disappointing. It appears to be microwaved, is hard as a rock, and they barely put 1 piece of bacon on my breakfast bagel sandwich.

Incredibly disappointing to see one of my favorite breakfast restaurants be completely run down. There are a lot better places around to get bagel sandwiches at around the East Side of Cincinnati… make sure you visit one of those establishments instead...

I rarely post poor reviews, but I could not let this go. The last two times I came to Big Apple Bagel I have noticed it's decline. This last time, yesterday morning was my last visit. The outside of the building is in desperate need of repair. Junk piled on the side of the building and the paint is fading on the exterior. The interior is very dirty. The floors and most of the tables had not been cleaned, and this was at 7:30am. There was so much dust right behind the cooler right as you walk in the front door, that I almost walked out at that point. I purchased muffins. They are usually very good, but this time there were very dry and not fresh at all. I've worked in food service for many years. I know it is a lot of hard work to keep an establishment clean and looking fresh. But this is one of the few breakfast establishments in Anderson Township. Why not be the best?! Never been here before and after a traumatizing appointment I decided to treat myself. All of the food was great! I ordered a sandwich, half a dozen assorted bagels, And muffins. But then comes my drink. First, there was no milk in the fridge. Things happen, whatever. But they also didn’t have the flavor I ordered. After looking around and asking other employees, instead of telling me about it she gives me a different flavor. I know, because she had to walk away to look for whipped cream and I took a look. And no, she didn’t find the whipped cream. She said she would give me caramel drizzle instead, no apologies. Very disappointing. I’m still giving four stars because the food was great and maybe like me, she just had a bad morning. Hopefully she sees this and learns a little about having integrity in the work place.
