I do not recommend coming to this establishment. Our servers name was Morgan; iv never been gas light by a server before tonight but here is our experience. After about 50 minutes of our food not coming out Morgan came and told us it should be done soon. (Remember this) We were out of waters, wine and bread. 10 minutes later I ask someone else to grab us some refills and to see if she can check on our order. About 5 minutes later Morgan tells us that due to the power outage our order was never sent to the back so after over an hour of waiting she finally get our order to the kitchen. This means when Morgan told us our food was almost done that was a lie and she never actually checked with the kitchen or she would habe known they didnt have our order. During most of this waiting period we were left with minimal service or checked on. We finally got our food after about 1.5hrs. Our food felt very thrown together. We immediately asked for our checks because the entire experience took so long. When I got the bill I saw it had a gradituity added, white normally I have absolutely no issue with but our experience thus far had been horrid and we didn't actually get much service. I asked Morgan if the gratuity could be removed. Her response was revolting. She immediately started gaslighting. She told us our food wasn't forgotten about, it just takes that long. Literally the opposite of what she said happened. She told us we didn't have a reservation (which we didn't we had other plans but the food smelled good while walking by so we popped in to see if we could get a table and cancel our order plans). Because we didn't have a reservation didn't make us less of a customer. She then proceeded to get very rude instead of understanding. She said and I quote "Well have you even ever been to Murphys before" in a very degrading tone. Insinuating that I don't how things are done around here and I'm lucky we even got a table to begin with so the fact they forgot about our food shouldn't be a big deal. The entire exchange was shocking. There was an immense lack of customer service and respect. There was a sheer lack of professionalism within this establishment. We were extremely nice and understanding with the unfortunate situation but we didn't deserve to be spoken to in...
Read moreYesterday we stopped by Toscano’s in Murphys while killing some time before a concert. We weren’t planning to have a full meal, just wanted to share an appetizer and get a feel for the place. Since it’s Italian-style with seafood on the menu (my favorite), it seemed like a good pick.
We were seated right away, which was nice, but a few things immediately stood out. The napkin at my place setting was dirty and had to be replaced, and I noticed that the “white tablecloths” were actually covered in white butcher paper. I understand it’s for easy cleanup, but for a restaurant presenting itself as higher-end, it felt a little tacky.
We chose outdoor seating, which came with a lovely view of Main Street and all the people walking by. Unfortunately, I leaned against the wall next to my chair and was instantly swarmed by ants. The wall was absolutely covered with them—it looked like a long-term problem, not just a stray few.
When the food arrived, things didn’t improve. We ordered the stuffed shell crab, expecting an actual crab dish, but it turned out to be pasta shells filled with a soupy mixture that tasted more like canned tuna than crab. There was barely any actual crab flavor, and the texture was off-putting. We didn’t even finish it.
Oddly enough, the complimentary bread with oil and vinegar was the best part of the meal—it was fresh and tasty. Sadly, it outshined the dish we actually paid for.
Overall, Toscano’s smelled amazing and maybe some of their other dishes are better, but based on our experience, it was a big disappointment. Between the ants, the presentation issues, and the underwhelming appetizer, this isn’t a place we’d return to. Luckily, Murphys has plenty of other intriguing restaurants along Main Street, so we’ll be exploring...
Read moreWow, what a surprise and delight to have such a fantastic dinner at Toscano's the other night. From the ease of calling in to make a reservation, promptly sitting us down when we arrived, top notch service throughout the meal, to getting our check quickly with boxes to go. Chris was our waiter and did an outstanding job! All the wines are local and priced affordably which was nice. We started off with fresh bread and a perfectly cooked, lightly crusted calamari appetizer served with a tasty aioli. For our entrees my 2 daughter's got the pollo Alfredo which had perfect chunks of chicken breast meat in a slightly heavy cream sauce that had a nice hint of garlic. My wife had a perfectly pounded Veal marsala that was thin, had a wonderful mushroom sauce and a delight to eat. I had the grilled Ribeye in a heavy burgundy sauce. It was nice to taste the charcoal flavor combined with the tasty sauce for what was a perfectly cooked quality piece of meat. A perfect compliment. Oh, the mashed potatoes were over the top. My daughter had to sadly report, that they were better than mine. Argh. The amount of food was more than enough that we took a bunch home. We had to try one of their desserts and settled on the carrot cake as the berry cobbler was sold out. We had a wonderful experience, fantastic service at a price that was reasonable for today's restaurants. We will definitely go back next time we are...
