Taco John's — Restaurant in Ankeny

I pretty much always get the same thing at TJs, grilled chicken burrito combo. This time I also got the crispy chicken strips they use for the crispy chicken burrito as a side, it was well worth the money because i was extremely hungry and it tasted so good. When they called my name i was going to walk up and get my meal, but they brought it to my table before i could get out of my seat. I was not expecting that type of service. I think if they are going to go that hard for a fast food location then the corporation itself should offer a better wage than what is publicly advertised on their outside banner. Not saying that $14/hr isn't reasonable but in our society currently $14 is more like $4.25/hr. But it's been awhile since I worked in the industry and I know the systems are difficult to change but our society's standards of CEO positions making millions of dollars a year as a standard has got to change. I feel as though there are not enough unions in this type of industry for these types of locations and as to my knowledge the only culinary union in the nation is in Las Vegas. From out of town, first time at a Taco John's. Not bad, we had a beef burrito, super burrito and a crunchy chicken burrito. My wife had the super burrito- it was good, nothing bad, nothing special. I had the beef burrito- loved it! Great flavor, plenty of beef, similar to what I make at home. Wish it had a little more cheese but still good item. I ordered the crunchy chicken out of curiosity- not good, the chicken by itself was good, then rest was just cheese sauce with stale corn chips, very little flavor, I do not recommend this item. Didn't even finish it. The sauce packets- I had both original and hot. The hot was hotter than expected, not a bad flavor. The original has a (my opinion) bad flavor. Really disappointed in the sauces, might have made a difference on the chicken burrito. ? They were busy so I was expecting it to be a hot minute before I got my boyfriends food (he works outside and depends on me to bring him food sometimes) and when I got to the drive through I was asking the lady a couple questions and she ignored me multiple times all the while slamming the sliding door in my face. I work in a restaurant and I know first hand how to handle things even when under pressure. She was not doing a good job. So when I got the food and my boyfriends drink (I asked for no ice and got extra ice instead) she slammed it again. I was not happy and I brought my food to my boyfriend and called the location and asked for a manager. Thankfully the manager saw the whole thing and apologize multiple times reassuring me that it was being dealt with. The manager was very kind.
