I have been going to Biggby since they existed, I even worked at the one downtown back in 2007, for two years. I know(and absolutely love) my coffee as much as I know when someone doesn't like you for no reason; the owner of this location is one of the most two faced persons I have ever met. She will pretend to be pleasant to you and then look down on you as soon as you turn away; I also know so many people she has employed over the years, and they all can confirm this.
Being a regular, the other day while taking my father for coffee she went out of her way to ensure my visit there was not pleasant. Pushing a new and training barista aside who was to make my coffee, just to make both my father and I the most nastiest 6 dollar cup of mud I have ever tasted, I tip ~25% every time and consume their product so why does she spite me so much? I may remind you, this mud water tasted like bacteria-filled bitter soap which I of course got really sick from.
On top of it all, while we where waiting and not wanting to crowed a nice lady at the end of the counter, my father and I stayed a distance away so that we may conversate in private. It just so happens I was also looking for tip money in my pocket to drop in the tip jar, when out the blue she speaks out to us "your coffees will be ready this way fellas", implying that she didn't want us near her register for the sake that she didn't have to "watch" it. Well lady, screw you, and your business. Why do I say that? I have spent SO MUCH money at your establishment, just to be treated the way I have. Well I have news for you; a one star rating and me calling you out on your own page of business, that you can't have paid to be removed, is the biggest middle finger I have to give to you as a present for being a loyal customer and for you to have treated this, if not many, customers as you have.
This is not a rant, rage, or belittling of any kind; Just cold hard facts and truth. I want you to know one thing and one thing only, change your attitude towards people and your employee, and maybe you won't go through so many of them, as well your business would bang like crazy. I see other Biggby establishments under different owners, the busiest I have ever seen one throughout the different times of day I visited them. Westland, Livonia, Plymouth, the one downtown Ann Arbor, it doesn't matter the owner, busier than this one.
As as for guarding your tip jar/register like a wall-street stock holder, sorry for putting some extra money in your employee's pockets. Not everyone who looks like a slum is one; in fact I have loads of money and decide to not flaunt it in physical looks, just so I can give it away to other people and share the wealth.
The one star rating is for the service by the owner, not for the product served by the employees, them themselves. Start treating people in the world better, and maybe you will be naturally happier and won't have to fake a smile and roll your eyes as you turn away from me when you think I can't see it anymore, all while the person is trying to be faithful to your business. Pfft.
Hope your business does well. As for it coming from me, my Keurig and other biggby coffees appreciate it more than you have.
Edit: this is now outdated. This was directed towards old owner.
New owner now...lets see...I have known them for a while now and they are...

Read moreThe attitude of the girl working the cash register, which is the person you see when you walk in and the first person you interact with, was awful. She just stood there scowling. I ordered a simple drink (cold brew with a little room so I can add cream myself). She rang it in wrong, and the drink was made wrong as a result. I went back to the cash register frustrated, and ordered another drink the exact same way I had the first time. She didn't do anything to figure out what was going on or why, and I didn't feel the need to explain the obvious. The second drink was made correctly. I threw the first one out before I left. I've never seen in there working that hasn't been friendly or hospitable so her attitude and disposition were a sad surprise.
Responding to the Owner: I ordered a cold brew the first time also, and asked that there be room left for just light cream. The drink that was made was a cold brew with what looked to be the equivalent of about 3 or 4 creams. I walked right back to the register and ordered the same drink again, and the second time it was rung in...
