It’s a really cool intimate venue and staff was nice, but they agreed to add extra artists to a show last minute but only had one person checking tickets. The band we wanted to see started at 10:40. We got there at 9:10 and didn’t get in until 11pm, and we were in the first half of the line. It was thunderstorming outside and downpouring, super unsafe. They were running late and ended up switching around the acts so that the most popular band played later (so they had time to get everyone in, which took til 11:45). But they made no announcement of this, so everyone was confused when a band we were expecting to play later showed up and played for 45 minutes. There was also someone smoking weed inside, which I’m not sure if that’s allowed, but in the crowded space was really uncomfortable. I don’t blame the individual staff members for us waiting, but I definitely blame management for agreeing to do something and then not being prepared for the crowd when it happened. They had no staff members explaining what the hold up was, and we looked a few times. We tried to call them when waiting outside and the phone number on google was listed as inactive with Verizon. As a last ditch attempt because we were soaked and uncomfortable and worried we’d miss the whole reason we bought tickets, we even tweeted them. Nothing. We relied on other fans for details.
I’m giving it 3 stars because I know this place would be great if the show had been more planned out instead of thrown together last minute, and I did have a good time once inside. But don’t agree to host extra artists if you’re not ready for the traffic...
Read moreTerrible, cliquish experience. We live in Ann Arbor and have lived in Ann Arbor for many years, but went there together for the first time a few months ago. Two of our guy friends went in and didn't have any problems. We were running late to meet up with them and weren't allowed inside!! They accused my fiance of being drunk, but he didn't even have a drink yet! 😮
Then I went to go in separately to get our friends, and they wouldn't let me in by myself! There was obviously some kind of an issue. I asked my fiance if he knew the people who were working there and he said, "no." Based on the age difference (we're older), I really don't think he knew them. It seemed so elitist and sketchy! I just said, "Well! I guess you don't want our money! We'll just go to the other side of town to a five star bar!" I honestly hope customer service like this makes them struggle, it'd be harsh to say, 'go out of business,' but I witnessed first hand discrimination at this location and to this day I'm not sure why.
I also think some of their reviews are high because people are relating Eightball Saloon to the Blind Pig, which is a great venue.
Also, they're cash only!...
Read morewent to an ALL AGES show here recently. 20 minutes before doors opened a security guard I’m assuming came out and shouted to the front of the line and then went back inside. People in the middle of the line or all the way in the back had to walk up and ask what was said. Apparently if you are under 21 years of age, you now have to pay an extra $5 to get inside. No where on their website, Facebook, Instagram, or when purchasing tickets does it say anything about this fee. When I asked the person at the door when entering about it, they responded that it’s a new thing they are doing. A new thing that is NOT notified about ANYWHERE and is NOT communicated to the people standing in line. In my opinion it is a SCAM AND GREED. I’m positive that none of that now extra $5 is given to the people preforming. You also can’t decide to change your entrance/age policy 20 minutes before a show starts because you feel like making an extra buck. TO ALL PATRONS AND PERFORMERS DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. TO THE BLIND PIG. DO...
