Best egg tarts in town! I also really like their chocolate chip and walnut cookie--absolutely massive. Have yet to try the basque cheesecake, though.

EDIT: Taking two stars off for poor customer service. Attempted to reserve a cheesecake for tomorrow over the phone and 1) got hung up on while trying to explain this and 2) had my information taken down wrong and then rushed past when I tried to correct it. I said I'd come in person to do the reservation, but the experience is leaving a bad enough taste in my mouth that I may just find somewhere else. Please do better.

EDIT 2: Replacing a star. As I thought, coming in person was much better--service was fast and courteous. I think it would be a good idea to train people to serve customers over the phone, however. In the meantime, I'll just be sure to come in person to get anything ordered...

I'm a big fan of Moose Pastry in Novi, a Japanese bakery, so was excited when Yoons opened. I love how everytime I go there, there is a different selection of pastries to discover! The creme fillings in these pastries is the best I've ever had. Dont overlook the cold case - last time I was there they had SMOKED CHEESECAKE! Some reviewers complain about the price. You can't just get treats things like this anywhere, and in my view, this is someone's Art you're eating. Every pastry feels like experiencing a masterpiece. You can taste that the baker makes each one with great care. It is worth every cent. My favorite thing is to do the trifecta of dining at Evergreen next door, then picking up pastries at Yoons for dessert, then going to One Way market one door down for...

We visited Ann Arbor, and this was our first time having Korean pastries. I am used to, and grew up with, Mexican pastries. As I get older, it's harder to have our tried and true pastries as they are sweet and rich. I fell in love with Yoon's because their pastries are just the right amount of sugar and richness. I tried several different pastries over the span of three days. None of them harmed my stomach nor did they give me a toothache. They were delicate and perfect! FYI: We tried and recommend custard bread, curry croquette bread (OMG!), twist bread, cream bread, hazelnut cream bread, sweet potato cream bread, peanut cream bread, and there was still much more we wanted to taste. Please don't pass up this spot if you're in the area or are able to make a detour....

Theres not a lot of seating here if you plan on dining in, but we were still able to find a spot despite the crowd. The matcha bingsoo was amazing! On top of the mountain of shaved ice is a scoop of matcha ice cream, and there’s a generous amount of matcha powder sprinkled across the surface. The bitterness of the matcha balances well with the sweet milky shaved ice, the ice cream, sweet red bean paste, and condensed milk; making the overall sweetness level at a balanced spot. The mochi adds a chewy texture and I was amazed that there’s red bean paste filling in the mochi! Underneath the bingsoo hides a layer of cornflake, which adds to the texture profile with crunchiness. Definitely one of the best bingsoo spot I’ve tried in Michigan!

Yoon's bakery is a small hidden bakery located near North Campus of U of M. They sell a variety of different Korean/Asian influenced baked goods. Unlike many western baked goods, Yoon's bakery baked goods are not overly sweet, and the breads are soft and light. There is a variety of different options and flavors that is unique to Korean and Asian bakeries. It's a great place to stop by to pick up a snack or even to grab something for breakfast. The soboro ppang and sweet potato cream bun are some of my favorites. Being located in Ann Arbor is nice since many Korean and Asian bakeries are located on the east side of the state.

I recently visited Yoon’s Bakery in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it was a delightful experience. I tried their red bean paste cream bread, a blueberry scone, a matcha cookie, and a caramel macchiato. The bakery has cozy tables and chairs inside, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your bread and coffee while having a chat. The red bean paste cream bread was a true highlight – the bread was incredibly soft and of top-notch quality, with a generous amount of red bean paste and cream inside. I absolutely loved it! Yoon’s Bakery is a must-visit for delicious treats and a relaxing ambiance.
