I’ve to this place numerous times but the last two visits were not good, and my latest visit sealed the deal for me. Getting there is easy enough and there’s free parking (which I appreciate) but with a focus on food, I’m honestly concerned. I don’t expect stellar service given the type of whole-in-the-wall restaurant that it is, but still... I am fine with the atmosphere being what it is but the last two times I felt the quality of the food has declined significantly. The bon chons (little vegetable dishes) aren’t the same and some of them don’t taste right. While I usually get spicy pork bulgogi, I tried the cutlet and found it fine. My wife had a soup with beef and lots of vegetables, and my son had pork belly to make wraps. The sad part is when we were done, he asked for a box to take the rest. The owner literally put the plate of vegetables on his meat, took it somewhere to box it, and then didn’t even pack his vegetables. So a plate on the table was on his meat that was packed. I’m questioning the cleanliness of this place and won’t be back.
I’ll go back but my last trip (last night for dinner) was weird. While every other visit was great, this one was a turn off. We got seated quickly but asked 3 times to get our order before they came. And when the food arrived, the flavors were very bland and unimpressive. If it was my first time there I would have been done but I’ll give them this as an off night. For seating, expect it to be very low key. Not somewhere to go to impress a date. I always get the spicy pork bulgogi and my wife...
Read moreThis place is fantastic, and I cannot believe it has taken me so long to find it. I have been obsessed with Korean food every since a family member married a Korean woman, and she would share her amazing food with me as a child during summer visits. The spices, flavors, freshness, and entire culture of sharing food made the cuisine so special to me! So the more authentic, the more I love it. Imagine my delight when stumbling upon this very unassuming establishment. I found them during a Google search and was able to get delivery through GrubHub. I ordered chive dumplings, tteokbokki (of course), ramen and kimbop, kalguksu with clam and braised mackerel with radish. Everything, and I do mean everything, was DELICIOUS! I cannot wait to try the entire menu. Just some tips for delivery. I would request that your noodles are delivered separate from the soup/broth. I live about 10 miles away, so by the time they arrived; the noodles were softer than I prefer. No bother since I stockpile noodles and rice from my favorite international market. But thought I would share. I would also request some separation between the chive dumplings, because the steam caught in the box makes them melt together a bit. Again, no bother, because the flavor was excellent. Overall I would skip the delivery and do pick-up or dine-in (if possible). Save yourself the fees and support them directly. This place is...
Read moreSo I was visiting some family and was recommended this place. I was told they had the best kimbob in town and that the price was really low. First off, the outside and inside isn't the best looking, but looks can be deceiving. The food was pretty good. The menu and the pictures looked really professional. I ordered the ramen + kimbob combo. It came with a standard ramen and the original kimbob for $9.99. They also gave a few sides to share at the table.
Now, the reason I gave 4 stars was somewhat of a miscommunication. I personally didn't mind the language barrier since I've had the experience before at restaurants. They only took one of our orders when the waitress came. We had to call them back over to take my order which I actually thought was funny. The main issue was when we asked if a couple of the options were vegetarian. They said the 2 options didn't have any meat so we ordered. When we got it, I noticed there was artificial crab meat in the kimbob which is made from a type of fish. I tried to tell them it wasn't vegetarian, but she kept saying it had no meat except crab meat. It took a while, but she finally took it back and made one without crab meat. She didn't seem to happy about it, but we just let it go. Otherwise, the experience was...
