Fine dinning and pricy, but that is to be expected at a place like this. The inside is nice but there is a small section of tabled near the bar, with a sort of rail around it for dinning. This section needs to be removed and the reason for 3 starts vs 5. As the drunk people at the bar are so loud that it ruins the dinning experience at any of the 4 tables in this small section. Unfortunately the restaurant does not seem to care much as the table next to us complained a lot about it to the staff yet nothing was done. For the price I was paying for 6+ people I should not have to hear a drunk man scream about the things he is doing in other countries while on vacation to impress half drunk ladies. This is fine for at Applebee's but does little to add to the enjoyment with my family and friends at a fine dining restaurant. I have NEVER had this issue at the RC in VA (Crystal City) and they would have removed the drunken person.
I suggest Carrols Creek or one of the other places that does not have BAR and Dinning together, if I had known our table was there before confirming the reservation I would have gone else where. The waiter was nice did his job ok, never came back to pour our wine but did refile the sodas once, so I can't say he was awful just not attentive. He did little to care about the noise and had a hard time speaking clear English (or even loud) for us to hear him speak over the drunk person. As I said will will not revisit this place and suggest if you do to ensure you are NO where near the bar.
As for dinner: Food was on point for the most part, the lobster tail was over cooked rubbery , but all steaks were almost perfect, sides were crisp as they should have been and the appetizers were sheared just right. One of the bottles of wine had either not been stored properly or was bad when arriving as the wine has solidified and left a bitter taste compared to the other SAME bottle. The mixed drinks were very smooth and the water tasted crisp. The bread was a little over cooked but it was hot when placed and the sweet cream butter was...
Read moreThanksgiving Dinner at Ruth’s Chris - reservations were easy to get a couple weeks prior. The regular menu was also available, but our party chose Ruth’s Chris because of a great experience on a prior Thanksgiving as well as it’s just our favorite steakhouse in the area.
This meal didn’t live up to the memories of that last Thanksgiving. Service was okay but our waitress had just our table in the room we were seated in and spent the majority of the time we were there somewhere else. Friendly but perfunctory and adequate service. Definitely a notch down from typical service here.
Everyone ordered the thanksgiving dinner- 3 courses plus side for $45 or $49.
The starter salad was enormous but it’s pretty easy to dress some spring greens and out them on a plate with a couple grape tomato halves, some onion slices and a few croutons. The other options were gumbo and Cesar salad.
The main course was a large slice of nicely cooked turkey with a scoop of dressing. This also came with some whole berry cranberry compote. The plate was served with enough gravy to cover the turkey but not enough for the dressing and the mashed potatoes selected as the side dish. Dressing and potatoes were well made. Extra gravy was $5.
Dessert was pumpkin cheesecake but the waitress said she could substitute another dessert from the menu. That was nice, because I’d planned to take my cheesecake home and pay for the bananas foster. They were out of bananas for the bananas foster by 6pm, which was disappointing. Instead I ordered a different dessert as a substitution; what wasn’t mentioned was that also had an upcharge even though the 2 desserts were priced the same on the menu.
The biggest disappointment though was they did not provide the little snack box as in previous years. That was a nice touch, with a bit of turkey, dressing and cranberry, so you still got a bit of “Thanksgiving leftovers”. Not offered...
Read moreHad dinner at the Annapolis location for the first time, last night. I had heard (and read) so many good things and was looking forward to the special dinner to celebrate 2 graduations.
When bread was brought to the table, the butter that accompanied it tasted of refrigerator.
Out of the 4 appetizers that we ordered, all were satisfactory except the calamari, which were greasy.
The service was terrible. We were always looking for our waitress. Refills for drinks were a chore. When she did show up, she always appeared frazzled.
The asparagus were not trimmed correctly and tough stalks still remained at the bottom. They were also still on the raw side.
Lyonnaise potatoes were not served with sauteed onions.
Scalloped potatoes were thick cuts of potato (and not on a mandolin), with some kind of cheddar cheese sauce...definitely not the way scalloped potatoes should be made.
The french fries and mashed potatoes were cooked perfectly.
My daughter's steak was supposed to be medium rare, but came back as medium well. My steak, on the other hand, was cooked well.
None of the steaks (3 were ordered) were prime cuts...and they really should be for the money you pay.
Normally, I would not make a big deal, but for the price you pay to dine here, you would think that they would know what they were doing...especially when it comes to cooking a steak. After all, it is a steakhouse!
For dessert, we all ordered the double chocolate lava cake, which is not a lava cake at all. It was a dry, flavorless, room temperature chocolate cake prebaked in a mini tartlette pan, with some kind of chocolate pudding injected into it. Three of us didn't finish it, it was so bad.
The whole experience was forgettable.
With the amount of competition in Annapolis these days, Ruths Chris really needs to step...
