While it is still fresh in my brain! There are very few restaurants these days that I can honestly say 100% they deserve a five star. Maybe it was just my first time experience or maybe it was just my luck, and the good chefs were cooking today. Either way I was pleasantly surprised with what we were served, the atmosphere, the food, and the service was spot on. I did hear some people say they were waiting a bit for their food, but I guess it depends on what you’re ordering or how busy it might be. I took a ton of photos and videos so hopefully I will add enough to do this place justice. I hope to go back and do some more inside the kitchen and make some other videos to post here. But for now, while everything is fresh in my brain, let me just tell you what I thought of this place. Pure magic! The food, the sweets, the coffee/espresso. I couldn’t be more pleased! My wife ordered the ROASTED SALMON & WINTER VEGETABLE RICE BOWL. Her sister ordered the WINTER FARRO BOWL and me? Well I ordered something a little different that you don’t see every day in a café serving breakfast. Shakshuka with lamb meatballs. We all tasted each other‘s dish. Right away my wife was pleased and happy with everything and said this was her new favorite place. Yes, I liked it also. But if I were to complain about anything it would’ve been that the poached eggs have more runny yolk. They were a little overcooked. But I do know from working in a restaurant, and making poached eggs, it’s not the easiest of tasks. Or it could’ve been overcooked in the Shakshuka sauce. Then when we were done, I got a few tasty treats for us to try out… Since this was brunch, I guess we’ll call it at dessert. I got one Passionfruit Kremba and one Espresso Mocha Mousse. They were not overly sweet and my wife has a thing for things that are too sweet. But she enjoyed these! Oh, and I forgot to mention the barista (I’ll have to get his name) made me a traditional espresso, just as it is served in Italy in a small glass… with a tulip design… it was very good 👍 So if you’re ever in the Annapolis Town Center, or in Annapolis, Md. and looking for some great breakfast and brunch, the portions are for the prices you pay. The sandwiches are also good size and I’m sure they have a little something for everyone. And some things are very unique that you won’t find in many breakfast joints or even bakery/café shops. Thanks for stopping by. See you in the next review. And make sure you tell them that Jack Julius sent you! Have a great day! Update! I’ve been there twice now… I will say my second visit was OK. I tried braised rib grilled cheese. As they do in most sandwiches, most of the meat was pulled to the front so the back of the sandwich was just bread. Also, my wife’s dish which had rice and grain. The rice seemed a bit undercooked, and there were also vegetables, string beans that were more raw than they should’ve been. Other than that I think our first visit was the best so far. But what made THIS VISIT all worth while, was one of the waiters and another staff member were getting rid of some desserts that look like they weren’t up to par for the display and I told them, “Hey, Don’t throw them away. You can give them to us!” And they did! Made my day! So for that, I am still keeping it at five stars! Thank you, thank you to the awesome staff!! #BakeryGoods #AnnapolisMD...
Read moreI was so excited to take my father-in-law to Tatte last weekend, but unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed. We couldn’t even finish our breakfast.
I ordered the quiche, which is usually one of my favorite brunch items. What I received was a thick-bottomed crust with a burned top and an undercooked, raw center. It wasn’t clear if there was any egg in it—just a runny, grayish mixture with pieces of ham. My wife and her father ordered the sunny-side-up egg platter, their usual go-to brunch order. While we know sunny-side-up eggs are meant to be soft, these were cold and severely undercooked. They’re easy to please, but even they couldn’t eat their meals.
As for the drinks, we ordered hot tea and two lattes. Strangely, the tea and one latte were served in paper cups, while the other latte came in a nice ceramic mug. It made no sense.
Starving and unable to eat my meal, I quietly walked up to the serving station and asked if I could just get scrambled eggs. Within seconds, I was handed a plate with an undercooked, dark, gray-yellow blob—not exactly appetizing. At that point, I realized this $65 meal was not going to be edible, and I felt compelled to speak with the manager.
I noticed a young man sitting at the end of the coffee bar with a computer, casually dressed in an oversized dark suit shirt, sweatpants, and dirty tennis shoes. Shockingly, he turned out to be the manager. I politely shared my concerns, but before I could finish, he interrupted to say he’d issue a refund and walked away. While I appreciated the offer, there was no sense of care or professionalism in his response. By the way, I’m still waiting for that refund.
The atmosphere was another issue. The music, which sounded like a hard rock concert, was far too loud and inappropriate for an early Saturday morning. It was more of a distraction than anything.
I will say that the latte I received in the ceramic mug was excellent—the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight. The pastries were also disappointing. The cinnamon roll was dry, though the heavy dose of cinnamon and sugar made it tolerable. The jam donut was too dense and dry to enjoy.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. I hope they can address these issues...
Read moreI frequent this location and I want to love it SO BAD because it’s beautiful and spacious and such a nice addition to the usual Annapolis spots… but the more I go, the more frustrated I get, because it has the potential to be great but it’s lacking in every way!!!!! It’s always a bit dirty (even when I come right after opening), sometimes I’m in there for both breakfast and lunch rush yet never see anyone buss a single table or sweep the floor in all that time even though there are many employees just sort of… standing around?
On one visit my mom was with me and her pastry dough was raw (not just soggy or undercooked, RAW) so I brought it to the cashier to inform them a batch of pastries were underbaked and the manager came up (I appreciated this) but he just said “yeah that’s raw, we’ll refund it to the card.” They didn’t take the raw pastry from me, didn’t offer to replace it, AND WE NEVER RECEIVED SAID REFUND… I stood there for a sec with my raw pastry and then threw it away myself since nobody seemed concerned with the inedible food, they never took the other underbaked pastries from the case, and my mom went up and BOUGHT a new pastry (so she paid for two pastries even though one was inedible??) and nobody so much as apologized for the issue or seemed concerned whatsoever.
I’ve never seen a single employee smile at a customer, I overhear a lot of sort of rude exchanges between employees and customers, it’s just… majorly lacking in the customer service department and the food is mediocre so it doesn’t exactly make up for it. It’s such a bummer because it has so much potential but sadly I don’t think the place is...
