Effina's — Restaurant in Anniston

Went with a large group, which we called days before and the reservation was accepted by the restaurant. Waitress was sweet and trying, but new and over her head. The fact management gave her our table, and then refused to step in and help her was where everything was proven to be absolutely unacceptable. How can he not even come fill our water glasses? And the food. The special was a grilled pork chop. When I ordered it I told the waitress "I want it medium rare. If it's well done I will send it back, so make sure the kitchen knows it is how it want it done please". When our food FINALLY came, the manager had finally stepped into help (after 2 of us had to get up from the table and confront him and why wasn't he helping his staff), and he happened to have my food. I asked him before setting it down, if it was the medium rare one. He responded "it looks like it". Of course it was shoe leather. I called him back and he then told me that it "was illegal to cook pork that way". I was floored he would insult anyones intelligence that way. If it's illegal, tell me and give me the chance to spend my money on something that is my choice. He then said he was in the food industry for 20 years and "I know what I'm doing, baby". Baby. Just, wow. It was a terrible experience for all of us. Food cold, was there for 2.5 hours and only got 2 drinks total. This is supposed to be one of the nicest restaurants in Calhoun county. But if management honestly thinks it's ILLEGAL to cook pork the way it tastes best (imo), you'd be better off to order pizza or something cheap here. Do not trust these people with any high dollar...

The Food was Great as well as the service.

The atmosphere was very nice and the price was nice which made it twice as nice.

My friends and I were treated like royalty as if we were a king and queens.

Our server Chelsea made sure we had the greatest experience that we. could possibly have.

She made sure our food was freshly prepared,and the food tempature was the right tempature

. She never once let our glasses become empty.

she made sure that we had plenty of refills, on our drinks bread and what ever we needed.

She went over and above our greatest expectations

. She is a great employee who provides great stewardship for the restaurant and

takes pride in her job and should be recognized by her employer and the

customers who she provides the greatest service and dining experience that anyone could ever expect.

I would highly recommend that anyone out here within listening range and is anywhere close in the area to drop by and see

Chelsea, and Rose for a true dinning experience that will create lasting

memories for family members to reminiscent and cherish for their families to

see as we grow older as the fading days go by so quickly.

To have such a great day enjoying our food, the great atmosphere with top rated service

We had a birthday party here for my wife. There were 5 kids and 6 adults. The service was good, drinks that were emptied were refilled soon after and ANY drink with room was refilled at that point. The servers were polite. Everyone ordered their own dish, only one of them was a kids plate. I ordered the scallop special of the day and it was delicious. Dad tax afforded me the opportunity to try most of the others. Everything was well prepared and hot. If my rating was based solely on this it would be five stars.

The issue comes in because it was a birthday party and we had brought a dessert. It was cupcakes from a local bakery. We were told that there would be a corkage type fee, which we were fine with until we found out it was $50. That seems a little exorbitant. We decided we'd just go outside and eat them on the sidewalk but imagine the money to be made if we'd stayed inside and ordered coffee or perhaps another dessert? The markup on coffee is tremendous and it would have gone well after such a meal and a tiny dessert.

It's their restaurant and they can run it how they want. I have no doubt that I'll be back, the food was amazing after all, but I will always plan to go somewhere else for coffee and...
