Tom's Drive In — Restaurant in Appleton

Soooo.... I've been going to Tom's drive-in since I was a young kid (with my parents), I'm now in my 60s. Anyway... stopped at the Wisconsin Ave store yesterday evening (11/01/22) around 5:30/6pm-ish. Ordered a 1/2 pound burger (plain, no cheese, meat & bun only). The guy taking the order repeated it back exactly as such. Paid for the sandwich, had to pull ahead and wait. When food was brought out, I checked it. Clearly had cheese on it. Drove to the front, walked in & at first it was like the manager & the guy working the counter were avoiding me. (Kid looked at me twice). Finally got them to turn around & I told them of the issue. They said they would make a new one. Meanwhile the kid taking drive thru ordered walked over & said I asked for cheese. Then walked away laughing. Anyway, new burger came out. I opened it to make sure it was correct. NOPE!!! I ordered & paid for a half pounder. This was Clearly a 1/4 pounder. Let them know I was not a happy customer. Manager says, do you expect us to make it Again?? I then said never mind, just give me a refund. No offer of (were Sorry about this), No offer of any sort of coupon card for future use. I left & went to Tom's on Calumet. Ordered the Same thing! No issue there. Did the online survey thing & called today asked for the manager, got "im the assistant manager, asked again to speak with the manager & well yeah. Asst managerit was as this wasn't going to go any farther up the line. So... I told an assistant manager about what had happened. Pretty sure that's as far as that will go. Apparently the lady last night was Also an assistant. Soooo the guy I talked to said He was an assistant manager meaning he very likely had No pull to talk to the lady assistant manager from last night.

If you're going to eat at Tom's, I strongly recommend going to the one on Calumet St.

Very, very disappointed in the way that this issue was handled at the Wisconsin Ave store. I won't likely ever stop no recommend that place again. 😔 Sad... that store won't last being...

The reason why I'm rating 2 stars for today's visit is because yes they do have great ice cream, otherwise after my experience today, I would have only given 1 star, very disappointed...and here's why...I went through the drive thru and ordered the chicken wrap combo, grilled, and asked if I could substitute the fries with cheese curds, which they said yes, and then asked me what I wanted to drink, which I said Dr.Pepper. Then they asked if I wanted to make it a large (my fault for assuming they meant just the drink) and I said sure...got to the window to pay and my total came to $16.47! I didn't think I heard it right, but I did..my response was "wow that's expensive for one combo!" That's when I found out that when I agreed to the large that meant the drink and the cheese curds...this I'll admit was my fault too, I should have asked the price difference and what that included. So I paid for it and was on my way, thinking to myself, damn- don't do that again! So I got home and started eating my wrap, and no joke- every piece of the sliced grilled chicken had tough grizzly pieces in it, making it hard and gross to chew, so I ended up throwing it away. No way I could continue to eat it. So that left me with a massive portion of cheese curds to eat ( way more than any ONE person should ever eat) which I ended up not being able to finish too...I'll never do that again, jeepers! My partner and I work long shifts and sometimes we don't feel like cooking. This place is super close to us and the food is disgusting. The fries, tatertots, and corn dog bites are either over cooked or under cooked there is no in between. The cheesestickes taste like the grease hasn't been changed in a hot minute. The burgers taste too well done, and the shakes have cup pieces in them from where the original cup broke, and they just plopped it into a second cup instead of remaking it. Kids can choke on that. The only thing worth getting from there is the breaded chicken sandwiches which they replace with grilled chicken. Even on a slow day they always mess up our orders. if you call and complain they tell you they can just comp it. I worked in fast food as a young teen in high-school and ALWAYS made sure to double check the orders. We just called the Neenah one and showed our receipt and messed up order and they had it fixed in no time!!! Even when the one here in Appleton told us they would not do that. Thanks Neenah!!!
