The location, view, and decor at Icha Maajoh are quite nice. The air of quality dining, however, is somewhat oversold. When I arrived, only one or two tables were seated. After several minutes, a host arrived at the front and greeted me with, "what can I help you with?" Not the most welcoming reception. I happened to be seated where I could see the front and the opportunity to see several people leave after waiting too long for the host to come up and seat them.
Seeing the items listed on the menu, I had hoped for a quality cocktail. Unfortunately, when I asked after their scotch, I found that they had little better than well spirits. A Glenlivet 12 was the best single malt they could muster. Bourbon choices were not much better.
The food itself was, in a word, salty. I started with a cup of bacon, chicken, vegetable soup. It was really quite good aside from the amount salt, with carrots corn, celery, and potatoes complementing bite-sized pieces of chicken and thick bits of bacon.
As an entree, I had the duck which was served with a mushroom pilaf and asparagus. The asparagus was firm and perfectly cooked. The pilaf was rich and creamy and at least least helped cut the extreme saltiness of the duck a little bit. A chutney of some sort decorated the plate, and was, perhaps underfeatured as it had some of the best flavor of admitting in the dish.
For some reason, I was left only with my butter knife to cut the meat. It worked well enough except for a but of gristle that could, perhaps, have been trimmed before cooking. The duck was cooked a little more toward well done than I was expecting and was only a moment of cooking away from being dry. Again, and I cannot stress this enough, the dominant flavor was salt. It was just so, so salty.
In summary, if you want top-quality food and service, find elsewhere. If you're comfortable paying fine dining prices just to get a good view and mediocre food, thus...
Read moreSeriously the best dinner I have had in prescott. First of all it is a beautiful place to have dinner and watch the beautiful sunset!!! We got so much amazing food. We had the pork belly as the appetizer and it was amazing, I highly recommend trying it with all of the sauces they put on the plate! My husband got the airline chicken, and oh my goodness it was fantastic. The chicken was moist and the veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The smashed potatoes were some of the best I've had in a while, and I love good potatoes! I got the summer risotto... man I couldn't stop eating it! It was so amazing! I barely had room for dessert. But we couldn't leave without trying a few items off of that menu. We ended up getting the mocha mud pie, which was just beautiful and so smooth. We also got the lemon and berry mascarpone cake. It was so light and refreshing for after such an amazing meal. The staff were all awesome. Our server Ann was very punctual, the managers Mango and Tiffany stopped by to make sure everything was up to par and going well! Plus the chef was sending out some amazing dishes! Thank you to Mr. Greg for making our meal and cooking it with...
Read moreI only could give one star because, we didn't even get a chance to sit down. We waited up front at the hostess stand for 15 minutes. There was 6 people in front of us. No one came up. There were 5 or 6 empty tables in the restaurant. I actually called the front desk of the hotel to see if something was wrong. Spoke to "Jessica". After speaking with Jessica, she said she would have someone check. NO ONE EVER CAME OVER! This is such a poorly ran restaurant, I couldn't believe it. But I guess it comes down to is they make their money on people gambling not for the quality dining experience it used to be. We left and went over to the Hassayampa Inn for a beautifully prepared breakfast. While there we saw 2 different couples we stood in line with from the...
