My friends and I have been patrons of this restaurant since they opened. Unfortunately, yesterday was my last time dinning with them due to the owners (Guy with curly hair and glasses) display of extreme unprofessionalism.
My co-worker wanted to grab dinner as a birthday treat to me. So I recommended Guerra as I often dine there and I usually enjoy the food. After what occurred I was left embarrassed and very apologetic for even suggested this restaurant.
The service was subpar! It was only 4 people dining in the restaurant and I had to flag down the waiter constantly just to place our order. It was like they didn’t even want to serve us. I ordered the 16oz ribeye (medium) and it was unevenly cooked and came out medium well/well done. So yes I send it back, no one should be subjected to a over cooked steak. The new steak came out in less then 5 minutes and it was RAW!!! At this point the owner was visibly upset and became very disrespectful. I asked could they please temperature check the steak, and he rolled his eyes and told me “I’m sure my chef knows how to cook a steak” Really?!! As I tried to talk to him he continuously kept walking away.
I was certainly taking a back by his behavior, and told him I come here all the time and I usually enjoy the food and he replied “Yeah and you send back steaks all the time.” ARE YOU SERIOUS? That was a completely made up FALSE accusation. Why would I continue to come to a restaurant where I have to send back steaks every time I come? How idiotic is that?! Clearly he didn’t want us dinning in his restaurant and it showed. His attitude was beyond unacceptable. My friends and I always order several items off the menu and always tip very well. Needless to say I will no longer be dining at this establishment where I was disrespected and falsely accused of being a serial steak returner.
Although, they did send out someone with to go boxes and said they were taking everything off the bill it didn’t make up for the lack of professionalism. My co worker left the food on the plate, and I tossed my food in the trash when I returned home, because after the actions they displayed I wasn’t certain it was...
Read moreThis was one of the first places that I bookmarked for my trip. All the reviews looked fantastic. All the 5 star reviews are on point. I'm so glad I visited this place at lunch time. There was only one table occupied at the time. I was told it fills up in the evenings. They have updated their hours recently, and it looks like they are no longer offering lunch so be sure to check their website hours for updates.
I was about to order a glass of wine, but decided to get the Guatemalan Sunrise after seeing the cocktail menu. They really need to put their cocktail menu online. I would have never known they had such unique and refreshing cocktails. The ingredients are homemade watermelon, Guatemalan guava puree, prosecco, and moscato. Doesn't that sound amazing? It truly was wonderful! I'd get it again. The orchid made it look so tropical. A very good first impression indeed. It really was a toss up between this cocktail and El Tamarindo. They both looked great on paper.
Then I got the steak frites, but without the frites. I substituted it for the steamed broccoli with garlic butter. Everything was delicious, and cooked to perfection. The steak was so tender and had great flavor. It almost tasted like a cut of picanha steak with some fattier bites along the edge, even though the menu states that it's sirloin. It was just a great cut of steak. Oh, and that bernaise sauce left me wanting even more of it. It was good with the broccoli and the steak. I could really taste that lemon. Loved it!
I would not hesitate to go back if I'm ever in Rosslyn again. The atmosphere is elegant. The service is great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I kind of wish I had tried the flan, but I wanted to try other dessert spots nearby. Rosslyn is full of these gems. This particular steakhouse is a hidden gem. You don't really see it from the road. It's tucked away inside the Colonial Village Shopping Center near Eclairons on Wilson Blvd. I just happened to search for restaurants near the hotel and saw the rave reviews. I'm glad to...
Read moreWe were in search of a steakhouse for my father's 77th birthday, he loves steaks, and we were lucky to find this gem with last minute availability for seven. It was a great experience! To start with, when we called to make the reservation, we informed them of the birthday and when we were seated and handed the menus, my father's menu had Happy Birthday Rogel printed right across the top of it. What a beautiful and surprising touch and great souvenir! We started off with the only two appetizers available, Giant Scampi and Steak Tartare Crostini. I'm a fan of steak tartare, and this version did not disappoint! For me, though, I may ask for the béarnaise sauce on the side next time instead of how it is served on top of the tartare. Purely a personal preference for me to enjoy the pure taste of tartare and have control of how much sauce I would like to enjoy. As far as steaks, the table ordered hanger steak, filet mignon and new york strip all cooked to desired perfection! You also have a choice of 3 different preparations for your steaks, blackened, fuego style or peppercorn crusted. Our sides were mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and lobster mac n' cheese. The lobster mac n' cheese was my favorite. For dessert we ended the night with key lime pie, cheesecake and flan. The clear winner here, although they were all great, was the flan. It was the creamiest perfection of flan I have ever tatsed! I've had many flans in my lifetime and that statement is no exaggeration. Also, all desserts are made in house. This restaurant has only been open since August of 2021 and it's currently a true family affair from top to bottom. I definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great, no frills steakhouse! I wish them much success, although it looks to me like they're well...
