Accidentally discovered I-Thai while shopping in Georgetown one evening.... what a gem! Fantastically large variety of food for non-vegans and vegans alike! Though I'm not vegan, I've been hoping for months now, to find a great restaurant that also has a large variety of vegan dishes to enjoy dining out with a vegan family member. Dining at I-Thai was way better than I could have dreamed up! Food at I-Thai was delicious! Very well seasoned, prepared fresh and a succulent treat! Fantastic service & staff! The young man that waited our table was very friendly, informative & timely!
Luck would have it, that I saw this restaurant on the way to the Georgetown Nike store to meet my Vegan family member to exchange a gift. I was starving as I'd missed lunch and figure a Thai place would at least have noodles suitable for a vegan, if nothing else. Wow... I underestimated I-Thai! We both LOVED the selections. We'd never seen a menue so well written to designate VEGAN OPTIONS ON EVERY PAGE IN EVERY CATEGORY OF FOOD... and I-Thai has large menus selection.
Our selections... As it was cold outside and we didn't wear warm enough coats, we both started with a cup of hot green tea. For our meal: *He had an appetizer of Vegan spring rolls and large vegan main dish of drunken noodles, overloaded with a huge variety of delicious vegetables! Yes, I stole bites of his main dish...with and without his knowledge...YUM! (Watch for the pepper markers...2 pepper markers for medium is really hot as hell (& our heritage is spicy food...nuff said) ...1 pepper marker on the drunken noodles suited us best. As we headed home, he was still talking about wanting more of the vegan spring rolls and l looking forward to drunken noodles he also brought home from I-Thai for tomorrow's lunch.
*My appetizer was a bowl of shrimp Ton Yum soup. It was one of the tastiest soups I've ever had!... perfect amount of spice and variety of ingredients...so delicious! It held me well and left me intrigued to experience the meal to come. I followed with a main dish of Bangkok Asparagus with scallops and brown rice. Both the scallops and asparagus were prepared to perfection in a very tasty brown sauce... scallops tender and succulent, asparagus steamed to perfect consistency of well cooked yet crisp. OMG both my selections were sooo great and delicious that I'm still thinking about every bite this morning after!
!!!We are definitely going back!!!...
Read moreI love Thai food. This place has some flavor. First off, I like the fact that there's parking available. So there's no quick rush to park on the street or have to double-park when you pick up your order. Also, a plus they have the availability to order online. This helps people like me a lot. I like to be able order ahead.
The food that I ordered was Eggplant Basil. The reason I got the Eggplant is because not everyone can make a decent eggplant dish. Also since this is my first time at the restaurant, I figured if they make this flavorful then I have to try the other dishes.
Wellwt me paint the picture for you. It was a cold night. I'm getting back from the gym late and I'm hungry. I want something good, heathly and not heavy. I look Thai Select up and I place my order.
I arrive to the establishment at the time I set (few minutes late) greeted with great customer service. That's also a plus. The people were very nice. They already had my order ready. I pick it up and go home.
As you can see the portions are perfect. It's not overwhelming. The spring rolls and the main entre Eggplant Basil were perfect. So flavorful and still warm. I finished it so fast. I'm definitely going again and possibly order the curry. After that dish I feel like there's no wrong...

We were excited to try Thai Select in Arlington, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. The portions were surprisingly small for the price, and nearly every dish was overly sweet — even items that typically aren’t. It made the food taste unbalanced and far from authentic.
What really soured the visit was the way we were treated as a family with a toddler. Our 1.5-year-old was a bit fussy, as toddlers can be, but he was always with his father and not disturbing other tables. Despite this, the manager came over with a disapproving look and asked, “Is he okay?” — in a tone that felt more judgmental than concerned.
Later, she returned and actually addressed our toddler directly, saying, “You mustn’t play with this!” referring to the soy sauce bowls on the table. She then told us each one costs five dollars. It was completely inappropriate to scold a baby in that way, especially over something so minor. A polite word to the parents would have been enough.
As we left, the manager gave us a final unpleasant glare — no goodbye, no thank you — just a clear message that families with young children are not welcome here.
Needless to say, we won’t be...
