I absolutely love El Viejon Restaurant in Arlington and have been a loyal customer for a long time. I order their Ceviche El Viejon at least 4 times a week—that’s almost $400 a month just for the ceviche alone (not even counting the nachos or tacos I pick up for my kids). It’s worth every penny because it’s delicious and fits perfectly into my macros.
However, the last 4 pick-up orders have been wrong, and it’s incredibly upsetting. Today, I even wrote my notes in ALL CAPS and asked at the counter if my order was correct. I was reassured it was—yet when I checked in my truck before leaving, the order was still wrong.
On Friday, I almost left a review because the portion size was unusually small. I was so disappointed I just gave my ceviche to my daughter.
If you’re like me—someone who looks forward to their favorite meal after a long day—you can understand how frustrating this is. I love this place too much to stop coming, but please, slow down with the online orders and carefully read the notes. When I order pick-up, it’s for the convenience of getting in and out. I don’t want to have to come back or feel like I’m being a “Karen.”

From the moment I walked in, I was treated with suspicion and what felt like clear prejudice. Staff kept giving me looks and repeatedly asked to see my phone to "verify" that I was the delivery driver, despite me stating the order details clearly. How else would I even know there was an order to pick up? It felt like I was being profiled and not treated with the same basic respect others were receiving. Even after I showed them the order and verified everything, they took an unreasonably long time to prepare it, well past the promised pickup time. I waited while staff moved slowly and kept making me feel like I didn’t belong there. To make matters worse, despite verifying the order with them before leaving, the customer later complained that the order was wrong. So not only was I treated poorly, but the restaurant didn’t even fulfill the order correctly. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. When brought the little charge machine I noticed and felt bad that it had a button to click to leave 3 or 5% gratuity. So I put in a tip of 20% on the entire check of $176.05. To equal 210. This waiter Ricardo C now got a tip of $59.05. Almost half what my original check was. I always leave 20%. I'm not mad that they charged me the tip. I mad that no one said anything. I called and was told well it is on the back of the menu. Like who is looking at the back. Who knows about the first time I went. I never looked at the receipt.
