Jamaica Gates Caribbean Cuisine — Restaurant in Arlington

I've been here numerous times and reviewed them well.

I read the negative reviews today. Couldn't quiet understand why folks were bashing one of my favorite spots. After all, I drive three hours to get here and dine at Jamaica Gates.

The last time I came, I brought friends and we were not impressed with the service. I told them not to give up. "It was just a bad day." I said.

Recently, I returned and it was worse. We had no complaints with the food. It's the service.

The hostess told us we could seat ourselves, which we did. We sat, we waited and we waited some more. A larger group near us was getting "VIP" attention.

After fifteen minutes or so, a waiter asked if we were "with the party." I said "No." He said it was okay for us to sit there, took our drink/appetizer order. We got the drinks.........I had to ask for our appetizer twice. Our waiter kept claiming it was "coming right out."

We waited too long to be acknowledged at the table and too long for water. It is ridiculous how long we waited for the appetizer. My guests contemplated walking out but we had ordered drinks.

The "VIP" table had three waiters and waitresses standing around and taking requests. Other patrons were waiting to order, in need of refills, etc. We noticed one couple (that we envied because they were actually eating food) had finished eating and were waiting for their check. Like the rest of us, they watched the majority of the waitstaff hover around one table. They waited.

Our concern was that our appetizer would arrive with our entrees. Twenty minutes later, our lukewarm appetizer arrived. Five minutes after that the food arrived. That's fifty-three minutes after we walked thru the door. Sad.

Only two of us ate. $59 later, we all walked out wondering what happened to the "Jamaica Gates" we once knew. Personally I wondered why I didn't trust another review that was only 11 days old.

OMG SOOOOOOO Disappointed... We kept trying the food thinking maybe it's us ..... I make ox tails at home so I know what good ox tails and rice are and I've been to Jamaica I've eating ox tails and rice And jerk chicken .... Not my 1st rodeo... I had oxtails and rice that taste like it was days old and my husband husband had curry chicken and it was just yellow with no flavor the appetizer seemed fresher and it was just wings and he had a Patty that seemed fresh but the meal the main meal with beans and rice was nasty... Way overpriced we pay $60 and we don’t know what for... OK..... so then we had to go to the bathroom NO Towels or dryer for your hands NO soap🤤....I killed a fly and a spider in the restroom....my husband saw one of the employees take a actual 💩💩💩 and walk out without washing ... WELLLL mean there's nothing to wash or dry with.... and then served a table 🤤 ..... They had only been open for about an hour so we're both thinking that that's when your supplies are supposed to be highest.....then ....that was it.... totally disgusted ...we had the food to go but we threw it away and basically he had the 💩💩💩💩s and I had to fight puking🤢🤢🤢 I didn't wanna give a bad review but we had to tell the truth about this terrible experience worse ever at a restaurant.... I mean we will never go back there and we looked this place up ..... Unfortunately we just had high expectation's because my husband came from out of town to take me out and it was on the Travel Channel ... Diners DriveINS and dives..... ...
