I saw this place as I was out and about, but have never been here before. Since my daughter was home I asked if she wanted to join me for breakfast. I told her there was a place called Huckleberry's breakfast and lunch I have been wanting to try. As drove in the parking lot was full. We walked in the place was plunb full with customers, and we were promptly greeted, by Ms. Emily, one the hostess. She was very polite, with a very nice smile and welcoming. She lead us to a booth. Although the restaurant was full staff were well organized, the place was neat in appearance and very clean. All staff worked like a well oiled machine,no maddness or chaos when very busy. We also had the privilege of speaking with Ms. Courtney, the Manager of this fine restaurant. Ms. Courtney was polite, very friendly and welcoming. Her attitude and kindness, reflected on her staff who all appeared ready and egear to serve their customers. Our server Mr. AB, was very polite, quick sense humor, friendly and very welcoming. We found out that this was his first day on the job,but he must of had a great training because he didn't miss a beat. He was very efficient and read orders back to ensure that he got our orders correct. He promptly brought water and a cup of coffee. We order the Mardi Gras Beignets for $8.49, to our surprise the beignets were larger than depicted in the menu, they were served nice and hot, the beignets puffy, it came with a custard cream, strawberry sauce, blue berry sauce, and peach sauce. This was so delicious. My daughter ordered the banana Foster platter with candied pecans, side of green fried tomatoes, ham, and two eggs prepared to your specifications, for $17.69, a cup of coffee for $3.99, and I ordered the Pumpkin Spiced Pie platter with 2 pumpkin spiced pie candied pecan pancakes, crispy hash browns, and two eggs cooked to your order, for $17.79. My daughter said her food was very delicious and very tasty my food was so delicious the scrambled eggs were fluffy tasted great, the hash browns were crispy to my liking and the pumpkin spiced pancakes were so tasty. This restaurant restaurant was super busy as customers kept coming and going no table was empty for too long. If you have the chance, come on by and say hello to, Ms. Courtney, Mr. AB, Ms. Emily and the rest of her staff. Hope to...
Read moreThere are restaurants one dines at to fill an appetite, and then there are restaurants one discovers—where a simple meal transforms into a memory. Huckleberry, to my pleasant surprise, belongs to the latter.
I began with the catfish, a dish all too often mistreated by lesser kitchens. Here, however, it was handled with care and confidence. The flesh was delicate, seasoned with precision, and every bite carried a depth of flavor that demanded attention. It arrived alongside a salad—far from an afterthought, it was crisp, refreshing, and as carefully balanced as the main dish itself. To accompany my meal, I was presented with a huckleberry lemonade, a drink both sweet and tart, its subtlety elevating it beyond a mere refreshment. It was not a blunt hammer of sugar, but a quiet whisper of fruit, perfectly judged.
For dessert, Mardi Gras beignets arrived at the table, generous in portion and rich in sweetness. They were a celebration in themselves, indulgent without apology, and the perfect conclusion to the meal. And yet, a restaurant is more than its food. Our waiter, Chicho, proved himself a steward of hospitality—kind, attentive, and informed, guiding us with care through the menu without ever imposing. The atmosphere too struck a personal note: the glass garage door, a design choice for some, a memory of home for me. As a mechanic, I felt an unexpected familiarity in its presence, a small touch that turned comfort into kinship.
In Huckleberry, one does not merely dine; one experiences. It is a place where flavor, service, and setting converge in harmony. I left not only satisfied,...
Read moreThis place is very bold opening in the state of Texas where we have many transplants from Louisiana. As a native Texan, the food at this place lacks the heart and soul of Cajun cuisine. Whether the dishes are Cajun or Creole one thing you won't be without in Louisiana is FLAVOR. This place spent so much effort on the logo and theme of the place that they barely put anything into the food which is an incredible shame. I had the southern fish and chips and they were extremely basic. Very bland even with hot sauce. I also had fried green tomatoes and had to coat everything in salt and pepper. This is nothing more than gentrification of good cuisine and they didn't even try. I also have to say I had a feeling things would not be good when I first walked in because why don't you have a system using either pagers or text messaging the customers to let them know their table is ready? I came in to seeing at least a dozen people standing or sitting in the front area and they have no choice but to be in earshot of the front desk. That's not efficient at all. First Watch does a better job with this. I tried to give this place a fair chance and even wanted to try breakfast but with how lackluster lunch was, I don't trust that the breakfast will be anything impressive either. I give this place 6 months to a year before...
