Refused to serve me food 20 minutes before closing time! I have purchased meals at the Super Pollo on quincy several times. As a Peruvian, I found their seasoning was the most authentic in comparison to other chicken places in the DC area. August 29th, 9:40 pm 20 minutes before closing, my husband and I entered Super Pollo to find the manager counting the cash register, all of the food had been removed from the front hot bar and the kitchen crew was watching television. I asked the manager (a columbian female with short hair and glasses) if they were still open (their door says their open until 10pm) she replied with " yes were open but all I can give you is the chicken in those containers". She referred to chicken that was on a far back counter in bags and containers that appeared to be packaged to take home by the staff. I told her I was confused as to why they no longer had food if they were still open? She looked up from counting cash in her hand and in a rude tone stated " Because per orders of the owners we do not cook any food after 8pm, ok, thats why!" Then went back to counting her cash. I then replied, well then close at 8, if you dont' cook after 8. You can't say you're open when youv'e already closed your kitchen and refuse service to customers. One of the crew members then jumped up and graciously offered to cook some french fries and prepare salad for me to take home with chicken. The manager told her to sit down. I thanked the crew member and told the manager she has HORRIBLE customer service skills. She then smirked as I left and yelled "lock the doors" as I was walking out. My husband and I continued our food journey and ironically ended up at the 2nd super pollo location off of wilson blvd and george mason. Their hours stated they closed at 10pm too, but HUGE CHANGE IN SERVICE! They graciously greeted us, gave us our food and during check out I asked the gentleman ringing us up if the locations were related. He confirmed yes and asked why the inquiry. I shared what happened and he apologized on behalf of the owners and gave us free alfajores as a kind gesture. WOW, what a difference the right attitude makes. I hope the owners of the super pollo chain read this and coach their manager at the quincy street location (which I will never return to) and reward the latino male who wears a large gold chain around his neck, for treating...
Read moreHave eaten here a bunch of times and the chicken is always fantastic as well as the sides. Portions are substantial (I have leftovers from the 1/4 chicken white plate) and very reasonably priced. I've tried the other big name Peruvian style chicken place but Super Pollo tastes better to me so I go here for my roasted chicken fix. I've tried their carne asada too which is delicious if a bit over salted. Strangely, I have also tried their tuna fish and chicken salad sandwiches (yeah - why?) when my sister came to visit since Peruvian chicken sounded 'too exotic' to her at the time. They were ok but the fillings were very sparse on both so it was mostly bread and I wouldn't order them again because of that. The sides that I've had are great - yucca, rice, spinach, beans, and steak fries. My husband got a steak dish the other day that had 2 fried eggs with it and fried plantains which I had never tried before and they were delicious. The staff have always seemed professional and efficient to me. We will continue to eat here often and I keep wanting to try their stew but they're always sold out by the time I get there on...
Read moreI'd give this place 0 stars if I could. Placed an order through an third party app at 5:30pm. Checked my order status/delivery time at 6:45pm to find out it had been delivered at 6:16pm, but to who? I have been home since I ordered the food and did not get the food nor did anyone try to contact me to regarding my food. I then called the restaurant to see what was happening and the person who answered the phone was rude and unhelpful. I explained several times the situation and he said that I had the food, even though I told him I had not received it. I then asked if there was a manager or someone I could talk to who could better help me and he started yelling at me and telling me I was asking too much and that there was no one else to help me. This was my first time ordering from this place, and it will definitely be the last. It's a shame their customer service is so poor, it sounds like their food is great. Just wish I could...
