There were both good and bad things about this restaurant that I loved and hated. I'd give it 4 stars but there were just some things that I can't forgive to get that high of a rating. Things that dinged it were frozen foods instead of fresh, kitchen was slow, and no Bamboo shoots.
Number one on the list is using fake crab and frozen calamari mix in the seafood Ramen. I'd rather pay more and get at least a few pieces of real crab (even canned crab) than use the fish based fake stuff. What ended up happening is that the great seafood broth they started off with turned into a fishy mess as the fake stuff disintegrated. Pretty sure the other seafood in it was frozen as well. Chewy, chewy chewy!
The other thing that was a turn off was that the other dish we had pork belly curry) was not an even temperature. The corn was from a can and cold and just dumped on top. The base of the curry ramen was also really thick and cold in spots like it had been made ahead of time and then thrown in the bowl. That being said the spice was spot on. Heat level was accurate and once everything was mixed up it evens out the temp.
The goods at the sushi bar were covered in plastic which gave it the impression it wasn't fresh. The sushi was good though and not crazy priced per roll. Over all a good value.
I hate to be so critical but when something is rated 4-5 stars that sets the bar pretty high. I'd rate this a college 5 star. Real life only 3. For the money it was great. Good portions, nice presentation, and very friendly and fast service and attentive. ...
Read moreWife and I went for lunch on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We saw they had a lunch menu for 7 dollars and we ordered that.
I had the rice with chicken and gyoza.
Wife ordered the curry udon and crunch roll.
When we went to pay for it, bill came to over 34 dollars. We were expecting about 16 plus tax because we also ordered a green tea.
They said that because wife did not specify she wanted the lunch special, they charged her the full order of curry udon and a full price for the crunch roll.
If the waitress was not sure since there is the lunch special and a regular item, it should be their job to ask, not the customers job to know that they had a full menu with those options. We went at lunch time and I asked about lunch specials when I showed up.
We paid and left, but this will be the last time we dine there.
I feel like everywhere you go, you have to be specific because places will try and rip you off with how expensive everything is and this restaurant is no exception.
The quality of the food is up to par for what you would expect for...
Read moreWe visited while on a business trip and were honestly completely disappointed. We had to ask for plates for our appetizer and food. My ramen came out way before my wife and daughter’s sushi rolls came out. My wife ordered unsweetened tea and was told “I don’t have any unsweetened tea right now” as if regular tea isn’t the cheapest and easiest thing to make and have available if it is on your menu. I never got a single refill for my drink with my spicy ramen.
The waitress was too preoccupied talking to the one (literally) other table that was eating while we ate. They seemed like family or friends that were more important than providing service. My wife made me leave a $5 tip, I was going to leave $.25 under my empty glass, but she wouldn’t let me.
Overall, the food was ok at best, and the service almost didn’t exist. It was about $22 a person. A total joke.
Avoid until they fire the worthless staff. (They might be the owners, idk, so it may never be a good dinner option)
Edit: seems to me it is one large family that owns it and staffs it....
